Rayelle Goodman has been playing violin since she was 4. Music has always featured at the centre of her
life; from playing concerts and eisteddfods as a child, to studying further at the University of Cape Town's
College of Music.
Rayelle was the original violinist in South African bands Freshlyground and Coda and has collaborated
with an array of artists including Pieter-Dirk Uys, Josh Groban, Shawn Phillips, The Crash Test Dummies,
Jennifer Ferguson, Prime Circle, Neo Muyanga, Robin Auld and many others.
Rayelle is equally comfortable on stage, in the pit, or in studio and has extensive experience in many
genres, from classical, jazz, popular, musical theatre, folk, Celtic, Yiddish, African, goema, rock, electronic
to improvised music. Her impressive C.V. includes gigs on cruise ships, corporates, television and radio
appearances, orchestras, national and international festivals. She has recorded extensively in studio,
collaborated with a huge array of artists, arranged strings, recorded an international movie soundtrack,
performed in music videos, accompanied choirs, taught students and sung backing vocals. She currently
performs regularly with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra and other orchestras and offers many other diverse performances for various events.

It is so important to find time to CHILL. These are lifelong friends. I am blessed. After a hectic couple of months, working non-stop, I found a few precious days right at the end of the year where I could slow down, reconnect with loved ones and myself, not even do much yoga except teaching a few classes - not do too much of anything except smile, eat, swim, play with children, get some sun and revisit special childhood memories. I've known this bunch since we were babies. Grateful for enduring friendship and soul-nourishing surroundings.

I have come full circle... I taught my first real class on 9 December 2020 (after YTT ended on 29 November). Since then I've taught 140 classes....
It's been one magical year of perseverance, courage, patience, opportunity, humility, brightness, anxiety, inspiration, stretching, learning and growing.
I want to express a genuine, heartfelt 'Thank you' to my teachers and yoga friends, as well as the yogis and students who share space with me.
As we wind down this interesting year, may 2022 rise up with new possibility like a flying falcon on the horizon. Keep flowing! Love, Rae 🌄

It's a scary and exciting journey stepping into your power. Becoming a yoga teacher was not something I planned. It just unfolded, and it's still unfolding. I'm looking up and facing it head-on. I am blessed. And grateful to be surrounded by a supportive yoga community.

Yoga gives me joy.
