Feeling sad and feeling grateful. I loved Carol Elizabeth Jones, and I felt loved by her. I got to make music with her and laugh and muse and talk about real things and silly things. I’m so thankful for all she gave me, and my heart aches for her family—especially dear @vivianleva.

This is a photo by @maria_camillo6 of CE and @js.newberry and Joe Fallon and me when we were a band for about 10 minutes about a million years ago.

It’s workshop screenshot time! Today’s online fiddle therapy sesh focused on “Rose in the Mountain” from John Salyer. It involved me counting on my fingers to explain crooked phrases and a momentary sonic irruption from a lawnmower. I’m once again amazed and delighted by the international participation in this old-time fiddlegeekery (Wales, Spain, and Ireland were all represented in the chat window!)… thanks to everyone who tuned in live to make it a genuine happening. If you missed it you can still buy a ticket to watch the archived feed (bonus: I add chapters afterward for easy skipping around).

Springtime bits. ❤️🦉🤘🌸☀️
So: the votes are in and folks want the next online fiddle workshop to be focused on “Rose in the Mountain” from John Salyer! 🤓🎻Workshop will be streaming on April 12 at 1pm Central, and—tho I do love it when folks tune in live—your ticket gives you access to the archived feed too… so it’s okay if our schedules don’t align. 😊
