“Mr earbrass allows himself a secretive smile whilst contemplating the cliffs of Antrim for his harp recital is scheduled to follow that of the heralded heroine of haunting harp tunes the notorious Ms Noreen of the north, the coquette harpist queen of Coleraine. “ so the fun facts are, my cousin Noreen is a fabulous harp player in Coleraine, the view here of the cliffs of Antrim is truly breathtaking and always illicites awe, also reworking pieces and adding caricature characters is truly liberating and entertaining, there may be more to follow. I just had to do a couple to satisfy my inner laughter at the idea of creating new adventures for the unique Mr Earbrass (or his cousins)! Loving shoutout to all my cousins throughout the UK! #papiermaché #collage #antiquepaper #upcycled by @rcyc_art

Mr Earbrass digs his hands deeply into his faux fur muff and casually contemplates the curiously colossal iceberg that appeared in the harbor that morning and wonders whistfully about what welcome he will have at his harp recital, frosty? A wee interlude of hilarity with one of my favorite Edward Gorey characters. Some of the antique music has such amazing patterns or colours that only such an exercise can highlight to properly indulge…the fashions are worthy of amusement and the absurdity of it all makes me happy. Old time music for an old time character setting off on a musical adventure of epically odd proportions. #edwardgorey #pianomusic #collage #paperartwork #icebergs by @rcyc_art

My underwater world is expanding!! I decided to let myself travel to dancing underwater. The paper plant paintings (ppp) have merged happily into jellyfish pieces that beckon for more dances. Prepping lots of new canvases and eager to see more magic emerge. Some lovely folks came into the studio this week, amazed at all the new work and passion for my musical archive. Yes the archive of piano music is endlessly inspiring, I am endlessly eager to make more motion and music with this archive, can you tell?! I will list the new pieces on my website this week, there is a link in my bio. #papiermâché #paperart #musicartwork #jellyfishart #upcycledart by @rcyc_art

Ella, firehorse tribute to Ella Fitzgerald. Her partner Louis will get his own post and then you can see them together! I’m very excited to have them finished!! I do think she suits the wool scarf but I love her without too, it can be considered part of her trousseau. #horseart #papiermaché #pianomusic #papersculpture #ellafitzgerald taken in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia by @rcyc_art

Manu! Mahi Mahi tribute to Manu Chao! Also loving shoutout to my beloved niece @dalinaciferri and her beautiful new baby Emanuele or Manu for short! The mahi mahi are so colorful and epic I needed to make another one for my love of music that comes from afar. Many we may be, all connected we are. It is a treat to use bold colors and patterns from old music, bringing them to life again and honoring them and the tradition of song! I love Manu Chao, @manuchaoofficial his beats, colour and passion… all his vitality, Me gustas!! #papiermâché #paperartwork #pianomusic #manuchao by @rcyc_art

Wolffish! Tributes to Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, who play together so beautifully they swim in an ocean of song! A tapestry of song and story! The flow of time in the paper makes for a great love of patterns, from formal to fluid. They are 21”x 8”x 4” each. #pianomusic #gillianwelchanddavidrawlings #antiquemusic #papersculpture #canadianartist by @rcyc_art

A few fish have been emerging from the studio and these are Tom cod!! Hubert, for the amazing Hubert Lenoir and Waits, for the awesomeness of Tom Waits (also tomcod have cute little beards, can we all please say together, I love @tomwaits ! The second I heard Tom Waits I was instantly relieved that there were folks who were weirder and wilder than l, swordfish trombones on tape, Franks wild years, on tape, which reminds me I should get those two on Vinyl to spin on my new fancy Bluetooth record player! Hubert Lenoir is one of my more recent loves and it is indeed deep, he is awesome. Both are 20”x8”x3”, made with antique sheet music, a tapestry of time…. #tomwaits #papersculpture #savethefish #hubertlenoir #pianomusic by @rcyc_art

Dr Lonnie, lumpfish tribute to the great Dr Lonnie Smith. The organ stylings of this funk jazz genius were another delight to discover through my DJ friend @chrisfowlah. I am so awed by his genius (album “Boogaloo to Beck” mind blowing) I had to buy almost all his albums, so necessary. As the lumpfish were a species that I was made aware of in recent years it felt fitting to choose a tribute that was also new to me but well known by many. This trio (Dr Lonnie, Les & Burns) do sing of old and new, the old music and the new fangled amped up lumpfish seem joyous to connect the dots for me! #lumpfish #papiermâché #drlonniesmith #musicart #healingart taken in Annapolis Royal, Nova Scotia by @rcyc_art
