We're excited to share that 'Re/Pair' will be screened at the Woodstock Film Festival on October 15th at 7:15 PM, with an exclusive Q&A afterward with director Lacey Schwartz Delgado.

"Re/Pair is profound, funny and deeply moving. Woodstock native, Director Lacey Schwartz Delgado, gathers Black and Jewish visionaries in pairs to have hard conversations about the anti-Semitic and anti-Black crises threatening to tear down 75 years of civil rights gains."

What is 'Re/Pair', and why now?

We brought together 19 pairs of Black and Jewish thinkers and asked them to talk. Some were longtime collaborators. Some were strangers meeting for the first time.

They shared memories of their parents, their neighborhoods, their synagogues and churches. The conversations were wide ranging and unguarded, surfacing ideas, fears, and admissions across a wide range of intersections and divides.

Many kept the conversation going long after the cameras stopped rolling.

We are living in an increasingly digital world, one where it is easier than ever to talk past each other instead of to each other. 'Re/Pair' does not try to resolve every tension between Black and Jewish communities, or offer easy answers.

It asks a harder question: how do we keep talking when we do not see things the same way?

"This project feels very much like a film for this moment because we're seeing so much tension between these two communities, as well as between other communities," says director Lacey Schwartz Delgado.

"At the same time, I think the film is evergreen. We're talking about issues I've watched unfold for decades. In some ways, this film could have been made ten years ago, but we're making it now."

Lacey didn't set out to make a film with easy answers. 'Re/Pair' is intentionally posing a question rather than resolving one, and she says that was the whole point.

"I hope audiences take away the idea that there aren't necessarily easy answers, or even easy questions, and that is okay. You can ask difficult questions. You can make mistakes. You can sit with somebody and listen to them.

You can share your thoughts, while still treating one another with respect and dignity. And then you can keep those conversations going."

That's the invitation at the heart of the film. This film does not end when the credits roll. It is meant to be a starting point, a tool for the conversations you have with your own friends, family, and communities.

More praise rolling in from TIFF. RogerEbert.com's Brian Tallerico calls 'Re/Pair' "effective" and "engaging," writing that director Lacey Schwartz Delgado "recognizes that these conversations are starting points and not conclusions."

He highlights Matisyahu and Che "Rhymefest" Smith's conversation on the deep ties between Jewish and Black music as a standout moment.
