From our last Wild Papermaking session at @biolablisboa on 13 of Dec, @rafaelbcalad opened for us the door for our 3rd and last session of this series this year.

@marquesdesa.art @berrakzeynepokyar @oopsididityuchen @magda_barreira_novo @sofia_leitao09 carried out all of the 6 steps from preparing the invasive plant fibers, to Alkaline treatment, grinding till drying the green paper sheets and I can’t wish for more! taken in Biolab Lisboa by @re_workshop__

No próximo sábado, dia 20 de dezembro, a Casa convida crianças e adultos para um workshop prático de fabrico de papel artesanal a partir de fibras naturais orgânicas Apresentado por designer de marca e biomateriais Souad Ghaffari. 🌿

Durante a sessão, os participantes irão aprender a transformar plantas em papel, explorando processos manuais, criatividade e práticas sustentáveis.

Para adultos e Crianças (com idade igual ou superior a 12 anos e devem ser acompanhadas por um adulto, e juntos partilham uma estação de trabalho).

Since October, I’ve officially joined the team establishing a Biodesign_Lab, where I’m stepping in as a design–research consultant and I’m really excited to finally share it.

The project is based at the @universidadedeevora , as part of the DEGREN PLUS initiative, financed by @interregeurope España–Portugal and co-funded by the @eucouncil .

We’ve already begun shaping the space for what will become a small nucleus of labs. At the moment, we’re setting up protocols, experimenting with our newly acquired biopress, and waiting for new equipment and tools from local suppliers to arrive.

This opportunity grew naturally out of my nearly two years at @biolablisboa, where I deepened my biomaterials research, developed hands-on lab practice, and grew through the community.

I’m thrilled to be joining an incredible team: my friend and wonderful human Prof. @carlapaoliello along with @________marius________ and @leonelalegre from @arteria_lab Lab, whose support has helped us move faster through this initial phase. And leading the project is my brilliant professor, @inesseccaruivo

If your sketches don’t like limits, meet the handcrafted accordion notebook. The cover is made from invasive Cana fibers, and the 90-120gsm pages are recycled white paper mixed with Cana fibers for extra texture.

A new perspective on invasive plants. What if instead of seeing them as a threat, we recognize their potential to become an abundant resource for creating new sustainable materials 🌾

Join our next workshop on the 13th of August at @biolablisboa to learn how to make beautifully textured paper using invasive plants like Giant Reed (you can find them all around Lisbon) and you’ll go back home with your own handmade paper which you can use for stationery envelopes, cards as Christmas cards.

Seeing my olive-leaf paper transformed by a skilled artisan into beautiful coffrets is a reminder of how much stronger our creations become when we trust one another’s hands. Their craftsmanship didn’t just complement my work; it elevated it. 🔥

Each notebook is fully handmade using our one-of-a-kind paper crafted from Portuguese olive leaves, lined with cotton fabric, and bound with natural starch glue. 💫
