While I do read a lot of Chinese queer novels, mostly fantasy or thriller, I expanded my horizon a read some other Asian queer books for for the pride month! While I mostly read MM books, I am trying to read more of other gender identities. Do recommend me some more!

I consider myself a very fast reader. But if there's one thing the last few months as a PhD student have taught me, it is that I just can't finish a book. It feels really demotivating while I see others posting and finishing multiple books in a week while I can't even finish one. I am trying to accept this reality that, with my insane schedule, I just don't have the time to read like before. That doesn't make me a bad reader, just a realistic one.

Well this is how I am prepping myself for my first time snow ice storm (whatever that is) for the weeked! The plan is to wear every single clothing I won and become a burrito, and just read it out! I may not have enough water or food, but I have backups of all kind of reading options! I think it's the nature's way of finally making me finish all my tbrs!

What's your plan people???

Starting the work week in a cafe in 2026 ⭐

Combined a bit of work and a bit reading together: in my fav cafe in atlanta

It's been around 6 months since I came here, and by far this is my most fav place to be! The vibe is perfect blend of work and reading time, just to kick-start the year with goal, motivations and reading plan!

So cheers to year 2026, may it go the way the day went - happy and hopeful!

Picking up books the old fashioned way : thrift store edition

*Soulless* by @gailcarriger is a witty, fast-paced blend of steampunk, paranormal fantasy, and romantic comedy that doesn’t take itself too seriously and that’s exactly its charm. It is set in alternate Victorian London filled with vampires, werewolves, and rigid social rules, and the story follows Alexia Tarabotti, a sharp-tongued heroine (my kind of girl) whose lack of a soul makes her both socially inconvenient and supernaturally powerful.

In my attempt to pick a random book, this was absolutely an easy read for the humor, and constant banter between the MCs. It's sassy, funny with right amount of mystery and plot twist - in a good kind of way.

I kind of want to read other books by this author and also finish up this series! This was a random thrift store pick (the art and the cover was soooo pretty) and I am glad I read it! I love a victorian style sassy strong women as I aspire to be 😏

⭐⭐⭐.5

Where are the old vintage book stores in atlanta????

Indiana was a dream for me and I completely crashed out. The book stores literally made me run from one end to another within 15 min, desperately sorting through books. The 3rd photo depicts my absolute meltdown in the aisle, begging the owner for few more minute while trying to figure out what to get.I kind of flirted with the owner to keep the store open beyond the closing time (pretty previledge works sometimes) 😭! Anyway, I wished I lived to a place, where I could get access to these amazing stores, where I could just and pick a unknown untamed book, maybe rent one and figure out how to get out of the reading slump. I need my library days back ASAP!

Oh! How good to have friends with similar hobbies 😭

Drop some rec for atlanta please!

Ps : I have my dream library ladder shot ((yaya))
