how i’m reducing my screen time as a chronically online girlie 📵

happy sunday <3 last week, i shared my 2026 intentions, and the first one was reducing my screen time and being less on my phone.

i featured Brick (@getbrick) - a small physical cube paired with an app. when you tap it on your phone, it blocks the apps and websites you’ve chosen. so many of you asked if it’s worth it, and my short answer is: YES☝🏼🧱

important to say: i bought this with my own money & just wanted to share my personal experience. if you struggle with phone distractions while working, reading, or doing everyday tasks, this might be a stronger option than standard screen time apps (that we’ve all tried and ignored).

come spend the day with me on a vintage train celebrating matt haig’s upcoming book the midnight train 🌙🚂

as i’m writing this, i’m still on such a high from yesterday. i genuinely can’t believe that having this platform has given me opportunities like this. getting to meet @mattzhaig and share afternoon tea with him and other lovely readers feels so surreal.

i moved to the uk in 2019, and i was first introduced to his books by a friend at university. in 2020, i borrowed my first book of his, notes on a nervous planet, from manchester central library. it was isolating having just moved to a new country at 18, with everything going on, unable to go home and be with my family.

i was alone in a city i barely knew, and i found so much comfort in his books. his writing brought me a sense of peace when i really needed it. after that, i read the midnight library and i’ve been a huge fan ever since. if you know me, you probably know i recommend that book to everyone.

this day meant so much to me, and i’ll always be so grateful to the canongate team for inviting me along 🤍 @canongatebooks

everything i did on my no-scroll weekend °•🪷•°

happy monday <3 for the first time in ages, i had zero sunday scaries. i spent the whole weekend offline, and i honestly can’t remember the last time i felt this refreshed.

if you’ve been here for a while, you know that i love using my brick (@getbrick) to spend less time on social media, and it’s completely changed how i use my time.

this weekend, i: ❀ moved my body and enjoyed lots of yummy food ❀ read my book without a single distraction ❀ enjoyed slow mornings with nowhere to rush ❀ packed away my winter clothes and organised my wardrobe ❀ made lots of matcha at home ❀ spent quality time with my friend Ahya ❀ counted all the books i own and organised my reading list by genre

the biggest thing i noticed? just how much time i actually have when i’m not scrolling. it felt like i could do anything and everything !! (it really is the phone)

my non-negotiables to protect my energy as a highly sensitive girl 🪷

i read the book ‘the highly sensitive person’ by elaine aron a few years ago and it genuinely changed the way i see myself and my emotions. i’ve always felt like the “odd one out”, and even now i still do sometimes. learning more about being an HSP helped me understand myself so much better. 🫂

if you didn’t know, HSPs make up around 30% of the general population. so i wanted to share a few things that help me stay happy, healthy, and balanced as a girl who feels deeply:

♡ reading more about it (non-fiction books!!)
♡ noise-cancelling headphones for loud/crowded places
♡ setting boundaries and saying no to things that drain me
♡ keeping a small circle
♡ prioritising rest and getting 8+ hours of sleep
♡ being selective about what I consume (books, news, online content)

small habits i’ve been slowly building to glow up mentally ˗ˏˋ ♡ ˎˊ˗

as we enter the second half of 2026, i’ve been reflecting on the little habits i’ve been building since the start of the year to become a better version of myself.

here are a few things i’ve been doing to protect my peace + wellbeing:
⟡ reading more non-fiction to better understand myself and my emotions
⟡ muting or unfollowing accounts that don’t bring me joy or add value to my life
⟡ gratitude journalling every single morning
⟡ choosing discipline over motivation and taking care of my body
⟡ limiting my screen time and spending more time offline

⟡ learning to slow down, stay still, and do nothing sometimes. reminding myself that rest is productive too
