She's a wife, a mom, an avid reader, and she can hold her own when it comes to obstacles. She's earned podiums from Highlander Assault, Abominable Snow Race, Savage, and more.

We once surprised her by showing up to her house, unannounced, to let her know we were building her a backyard rig. (Thanks to her husband who planned it all out.)

Representing Team Flatliners, welcome to Midwest OCR, @reading_runner25

#medalmonday is from @themidwestocr this past weekend. I was proud of myself (and very surprised) for getting through When Pegs Fly in a single attempt, but I was inefficient the rest of the race and gave up my band with the finish line in sight. This is the second time this season my obstacle endurance has been my downfall, so I know what I need to work on.

Thanks for an amazing race, as always, @racereadyobstacles ❤️❤️

Congrats to all my OCR friends for taking on this tough, muddy course. Big congrats to @katiebfit82 on her 🥇 Masters podium! by @reading_runner25

T2 Reading Roundup:
A Gathering of Shadows by VE Schwab
Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante
A Conjuring of Light by VE Schwab
The Giver by Lois Lowry
Gathering Blue by Lois Lowry
Messenger by Lois Lowry
Stolen Tongues by Felix Blackwell
The Story of the Lost Child by Elena Ferrante
Son by Lois Lowry

I enjoyed the VE Schwab trilogy. It was an interesting premise and well-written. A good read for fantasy fans.

The Neapolitan novels are not quick reads, but they are SO GOOD. I got completely invested in Lila and Elena and their friends and neighborhood.

How did I not know that The Giver is the first book in a series?! After the kiddo read it and told me about the others, I had to go back and read them all. I’m glad I did. The characters and communities all weave together in interesting ways.

I really wanted to love Stolen Tongues. The plot and ideas in the book were super creepy. But I really did not enjoy the writing style.

Now that we are getting into spooky season, I want to find a few good horror novels for my next reads. Anyone have any suggestions?

@ocrwc2026ireland in Limerick was full of amazing memories. From witnessing my son compete in the 3K to hearing our national anthem as I climbed the first place podium as part of the Women’s 40+ Relay Team… I’m honored to have had the opportunity represent the USA as a member of the @usaocr national team again this year. I’m proud that I kept a band in each race to be able to finish. Thanks to my family for cheering me on, both in Ireland and at home! I’m so grateful to my support network and the OCR community. ❤️❤️ by @reading_runner25

Getting ready to leave for @ocrwc2026ireland this weekend, and I realized I never posted about the @usaocr National Championships at @thisiswarx last month.

These races were truly a mental test for me. The start of the 12K began with driving rain. I lost all three bands in the first four rigs. I was incredibly disappointed, but I wanted to prove to myself that I could still finish the race. I didn’t fail another obstacle until the final low rig (which eluded me in practice the day before and was no surprise). But an even bigger accomplishment for me was taking on the terrifyingly massive water slide and crawling through tubes into water. I had already lost all my bands at this point, and I could have chosen to skip those. There is no skill required, and it didn’t matter for the race. But it mattered to me that I could do something that really scared me. I was proud of myself for finishing the challenge, even if the outcome wasn’t what I hoped.

The next day had better weather for the 3K, and I was hoping to get revenge on the obstacles that eluded me in the 12K. For the second time, I failed an obstacle I do regularly at @ultifit, and I slipped off wet rings to give up two bands early. I spent much of the race feeling sorry for myself because I didn’t think I could get through the low rig to keep a band and finish. Somehow, I was able to get through that low rig and snag first place in my age group for the 3K. While the outcome was better for that race, I still wasn’t proud of my performance.

So I’m going to Ireland hoping to run three races that i can be proud of. Cross your fingers for no rain! 🤞🤞

I’m super proud of all my friends on their amazing accomplishments that weekend and can’t wait to see everyone soon. Thanks to @mark623413 for cheering me through the final rig and capturing it on video for me! by @reading_runner25

The Low Rig.... where podium dreams are either made or destroyed.

So, if you're racing competitively, get ready for it.

If you're racing non-competitively, give it a shot or skip it altogether, but don't feel bad when you can't complete it because only a small percentage of racers can actually get through this.

#medalmonday is from @frontlineocr this past Saturday. I ran Endurance again, and this was the longest I kept my band. After 11.5 miles and 62 obstacles, I just couldn’t get through Kraken a second time. That didn’t stop me from trying for nearly two hours, though! I’m a little disappointed in the outcome, but I’m happy with how long I was able to be efficient - no retries on any obstacles until the second time through Kraken. As always, this was a fun course with challenging obstacles.

Thanks @racereadyobstacles for a great course!
Thanks @rodimus_ryan for emceeing - it was great to see you!
Thanks to @hmaven55 for all the training and cheering me on while traveling to the other side of the world!

Congrats to everyone who raced, especially those who took on the Special Forces challenge in a weighted vest and everyone who stood on a podium! Maybe I’ll be up there with you next year🤞 taken in Byron Motosports Park by @reading_runner25

Reading Update!
I said I wanted to update quarterly, but here we are.

Thinking Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman - interesting content but a slow read for me. And it made me feel dumb to read all the shortcuts my brain takes that are bringing me to incorrect conclusions 😆 My favorite part was about interviewing and hiring!
The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia - I enjoyed this read. Romance. Betrayal. A little magic. A couple quirky characters. What’s not to like?
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir - Little Man saw the preview for this and wanted to read the book. I had to read it first to make sure it was appropriate. SO. GOOD. Now I can’t wait for him to finish it so we can talk about it!
Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier - The naïveté of the narrator made me want to shake her. A little creepy at parts. A lot of frustrating at parts. I’m glad I read it, but I’m not sure if I enjoyed it.
A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab - Easy read with magic and travel between worlds. Delilah Bard is the coolest. I already checked out the next book in the series.
James by Percival Everett - This novel made me want to re-read Huck Finn. Such an interesting perspective and so compelling. I think I read this one in a few days.
My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante - How had I not heard of Elena Ferrante until a few weeks ago!? I’m so invested in the characters. Love her writing style.
#currentlyreading The Story of a New Name by Elena Ferrante - now I need to read all the Neapolitan novels!
