☾ The Order of Masks ✨QOTD: What is something you’re looking forward to this week? We’re almost halfway through October, which is crazy! Time is really flying. I’m excited for my husband’s gig this weekend with his band. It’s always such a fun time (even if the drums were wayyy too loud last time)! My mother in law will also be visiting so it will be great for her to get the full band experience while she’s here! She’s coming to experience fall in VA, so send us good weather vibes and leaves changing while she’s here! I recently got this amazing package from @alinabellwrites, and I absolutely love it! The Order of Masks is SUCH a good read. Now that my sinuses are feeling a little better today, I’m hoping to finally put some books back and get into The Weight of Crowns so I can see where this amazing story is going! If a book has court intrigue and deadly trials, you can guarantee that I will read it! If you enjoy a cunning FMC, then I’m happy to tell you that there is not only one, but two of them in this book. For Princess Scarlett, it’s all about out-maneuvering and staying one step ahead of her brothers and father. She’s a little mischievous, and I love that about her! And for Mira, it’s proving herself and overcoming new knowledge of long buried secrets. They were so much fun to read about because they fight with their minds, not muscles. With every turn of the page, I was met with secrets and twists, and was constantly questioning where the story was going and how Scarlet and Mira were going to stay one step ahead and continue to outsmart the people around them. I already know book 2 is going to be a whirlwind! ☾ Special Edition Sunday ✨QOTD: How is your October reading going? I’ve only finished one book so far, but I’m hoping the rest of the month picks up! Fall is always such a busy time and I always get bogged down with sinus issues, so it’s tough to stay focused. It’s been such a rainy day today so I went with a moody @moonlightbookbox stack. 🥀 Death’s Bride ✨QOTD: What are your weekend plans? We had soccer this morning as always! I also got my hair cut, and I think you’ll all be so surprised with how short it is! I feel like anyone who knows me is so used to my super long hair, so maybe I’ll do a reveal soon! I’ve really been struggling to stay focused reading recently. I’ve been dealing with sinus issues/allergies and now a cough that won’t go away and concentrating on books is not something my brain can handle. But Death’s Bride?!?!? The exception! I picked this book up and then all of a sudden it was over! After not finishing a single book for 3 weeks, I finished Death’s Bride in one sitting. I actually finished it earlier this week, but because of the sinuses, taking pics and posting consistently has not been on my radar this week. Death’s Bride was absolutely addicting. It’s lush, dark, gothic, and the atmosphere was truly perfect for the changing of weather we’ve gotten here recently. I loved the Corpse Bride inspiration and academic setting. There was mystery and intrigue with disappearing students and unexplained deaths that I was completely sucked into. As someone who hates bugs, I surprisingly found Victor’s obsession with them really intriguing. His glasses probably helped with that! Him and Penelope were really precious together as they navigated through Death’s obsession with Penelope and the mysterious disappearances. Just like Penelope, I was caught between Death and Victor. Victor was just so innocent and academic, but Death was dark and imposing in the best way. They really were the best of both worlds. ☾ Willa’s Ever After ✨QOTD: What did you get up to this weekend? I went to @willaseverafter on Friday and Saturday, and WOW! What a fun event! I’m local to @miss.willasbookshop, and it was absolutely incredible to see all of Charlestown open their doors to us readers! And when I say all, I mean it! The authors were posted up at different locations in the town including the local pub, an art gallery, a realty business, and more! I did 3 panels on Friday and loved all of them! I appreciate that this event allowed a brief signing with the authors after each panel, so I was able to get most of my books signed on Friday and was able to mosey around during the general signing on Saturday. I also loved that they partnered with the town for the Friday night event because my husband and son were able to come and enjoy all the goodness too! The grilled cheese truck was AMAZING!!! I also had some incredible conversations with a few of the vendors who I’ll be seeing at other events. I bought items from 3 different vendors and can’t wait to show my haul (although my son has claimed two of the bookish goodies already)! Hands down, this is one of my favorite events I’ve ever been to. The vibes were just right and this was such a unique experience! Shout out to @jennifer_l_armentrout and her team for the work they did on the bookstore expansion (it’s breathtaking) and organizing this whole event!
