Picked up a novel after 3 months and gulped it in an hour😅...I was expecting it to be a hilarious read but it's just an okay kind of a book. I grabbed this book from a #booksale in exchange for old books so I'm not regretting it. Also the illustrations are beautiful 🤩 and I'm kind of obsessed with buying #illustratedbooks so I don't mind.

What are you reading these days?

I guess every rational thinker after reading the end of '1984' falls into a pool of despondency and almost loses the vigour to read further i.e the Appendix- Principles of Newspeak which starts like this...

"Newspeak was the official language of Oceania and had been devised to meet the ideological needs of Ingsoc, or English Socialism."

In the times we live the #genre of the book feels #contemporary yep definitely fictional but #realisticfiction I won't talk about the book, there's enough summaries available for it nor push it as a recommendation...it's a masterpiece so you know.

Sometimes I feel the book is used more by institutions like Ingsoc as a 'book of ideas' than the Winston's, Julia's and Proletarians of the world for whom the book is written. The thing that has always fascinated me about the book is the 'End'.

At first I used to believe it's a hasty end concluded by a person suffering from TB. The author just didn't want his thoughts to go waste as an incomplete #novel so he just wrapped it up but then he should have stood by the title, 'The Last Man In Europe'. But then there's the appendix which makes you believe in '1984'.

Maybe just maybe the language did make the comrades of 'Outer Party' commit continuous 'thoughtcrime' and somewhere down the line they got tired of torture, confessions, bringing everyone to Room 101. People like Parson had also committed a thoughtcrime in his sleep so maybe almost every member of Outer Party either got shot or the word of Winston came true that

'It is impossible to found a civilization on fear and hatred and cruelty. It would never endure. It would have no vitality. It would disintegrate. It would commit suicide.'

#NewBookAlert 'Maktub' by Paulo Coelho

An inspirational guide for every soul who believes in God and Maktub. It's an anthology of short stories of metaphysical themes selected from his newspaper columns and 'Manual Of The Warrior In Light' which the author proposes is to be read as a companion to his masterpiece; The Alchemist.

'The Alchemist' has always been one of my favourites although I've read many books of the same theme in my life after that and many other books by Paulo Coelho nothing can beat the awe I have for Alchemist❤️, some books are treasure. I was hoping for the same magic 🪄 when I ordered this book and the book didn't disappoint me a bit.

I won't quote it as life-changing but definitely a book that rejuvenates your mind, uplifts your spirits, pats your shoulder and tells you to keep walking with hope ☺️.

A journal I wished I had when I was in college 😭 nevermind I have it now and I'm sure it's gonna be filled soon. This journal is specially designed for #muslimteens looking out for that beautiful eye-catching diary they can use to reflect on their daily routine and note down their favourite duas.

I love how every emotion is taken care of in the journal...it helps you understand what's happening inside your nafs, there are special columns and rows designed to help you sort your feelings, ponder upon what needs your attention.

The timely reminders and Quranic quotes will definitely provide relief to 🌱 minds. A great book to gift your teenagers. A book they would cherish more than their slam book.

If you are looking for a feelgood book to read while travelling or in between work, a book to read with your evening chai..... this book is for you.

It's a collection of short stories by Ruskin Bond some are about the places his lived, the people who've been part of his and some are fictional stories. But every story leaves you with that subtle happiness which lingers long after you close the book.

Sometimes we don't want to be engrossed in thrillers and sci-fi.... sometimes the mind is looking for peace and few authors write such simple stories with beautiful descriptions of nature and humour. by @readingfatima

I like reading Al-Quran first thing when I'm free, then a bit of academic catch-up which are more of e-books these days and then comes my lovely 📚 my 💜

If you visit my clinic you'll see a huge pile of novels on my work table...yep most are there just to cheer me up. I'm among those few silly people who are pleased to live life around books.

The little me feels proud that I have books of my own that I don't have to make friends with rich kids just to have access to the Harry Potter series or the next Twilight series book.

I'm reading 'The Compass' by Sunil Mehta one fatty 📖 but gosh it's intresting. I just can't make myself pause....I might finish it soon by @readingfatima

Are you someone who loves reading comics.....

There is no superwoman or superhero in this comic just a few corporate rats who believe they are winning the rat race with all the office politics and melodrama of their colleagues.

The creator @corporatcomics has summed up his corporate life in this comic. And every page reflects the life of the corporate baddie who works and works to hit the promotion drum but forgets that a beautiful symphony is only created by a team wherein some are simply holding the 🪈

I loved it. But my patients doing office job have been 😭 reading the book in waiting area. I'm not sure if I should let the book stay there🫣

I recommend the book to everyone going crazy to vent out your feelings to your fellow colleagues, boss or HR. Gift them this comic. taken in India by @readingfatima

When was the last time you read a book and found yourself drawn in its world even after the story ended????

Some readers feel only a fiction book holds this magic but I believe even a good autobiography/biography or memoir can enchant you.

I'm reading two very difficult genres right now one is a thriller and another is a satire. I'll be writing a review soon for both of them

'For Everything Left Unspoken' by 17 year old Uma Shukla is a symphony of poems about loss, untouched emotions, incomplete communications, nature, questions to self and overall grief.

Sometimes when we read this poem it feels depressing especially if you've lived through the emotions described by the poet but then you are reassured that life is worth celebrating and living despite the traumas we all face.

A debut attempt but promising. I especially loved how each poem is carefully titled. My favourite would be ' museum of spare keys' by @readingfatima
