I'm not a book hoarder, I'm a book collector-there's a difference! Romance novels are my 💖language. TBR? Yeah, that's just a fancy to-do list

Hello….

Thought I’d do a real introduction post but I love a good mood board. Between both, it’s everything you need to know!

My goal when starting this account was just to meet people who enjoy books as much as I do. My IRLs are amazing and wonderful but most of them don’t read (the horror!!!). Although my mom has been popping up here and there (HI MOM).

Anyway - excited to meet you all! 👋 by @readingwithandreae

Banned Book Week, book 2 - Sold by Patricia McCormick

Sold was the #1 most challenged book in 2025. It tells the story of a girl from Nepal, who is sold by her stepfather into sexual slavery in India. The novel is written in a series of short, vignette-style chapters.

Aside from the many challenges it’s received, there are also numerous awards: Top 10 books of 2007, National Book Awards finalist, NPR Top 100 Books of 2007, just to name a few.

Why does this book continuously get challenged? Because some critics labeled its raw depiction of human trafficking and sexual slavery as “pornography”. 😐

Banned Book Week starts today and I’ve got my first book ready to go - Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe.

Using a comic book format, Gender Queer is an autobiography detailing Kobabe’s journey to understanding gender identity, asexuality, and nonbinary life from childhood through young adulthood.

Gender Queer was the 3rd most challenged book in 2025.

Hey - look at that! I read 2 more books than I did last month. And one was a book I’ve already read, just in audio form. 🤦‍♀️

I can’t remember a time when I disliked the main character of a book so much.

It took me a month and 3 days to read this book. Why? Because Cecelia (the FMC) is hypocritical, annoying, stupid and clingy, and rolling my eyes continuously at what she said or did was giving me headaches.

The problem is - take her out, and I am good! The story is an interesting concept - a modern retelling of Robin Hood, if Robin Hood and his Merry Men were hot, into classic cars, spoke French, and were something like the mafia.

Also, Tobias King is knocking on my book boyfriend door. Self-made French man, fighting the evil capitalist powers, drinking fancy wines, being an absolute grump, and then loving so intensely. So…maybe he kills someone here and there. It’s necessary. 🤷‍♀️

Who has read this series? It was so popular and I’m so let down. Book 3 is better, right? I was told it was the “healing” book. Please, let it heal Cecelia’s stupidity! 🙏

It’s a “must read the book before the movie comes out” moment.

I bought East of Eden last summer because I saw there was going g go be a Netflix movie and really wanted to read it first. Now’s the time! I’ve been in a life slump recently so my hope is that this takes me out of it.

This is the first Steinbeck novel I’ve read (I KNOW!!) so I am excited.

📚 What are you guys reading?
