happy october 1st 🎃💀🍂👻🍁✨

finally!!!!! the best time of year is here and i am SO ready to consume unhealthy volumes of pure HORROR 👀 although technically it’s spooky season all year round in our home, there’s just something about this month that i LOVE ❤️‍🔥

i’m kicking things off by picking up one of my most anticipated reads for october (due for release oct 6) @stmartinspress 🧡 it’s being described as Final Destination meets The Cabin at the End of the World - which as you know are both a big YES from me 😍

and speaking of movies - for my movie pick tonight i’ll finally be watching The Exorcist!!!!!! i can’t believe i’ve never watched it before 😳 (unless you count the spoof moments in scary movie 2 hahaha) i’ll be back with my thoughts on both soon..

As someone who loves both SLASHER MOVIES and ROMCOMS equally, this was such a perfect read for me and I absolutely LOVED this book! ❤️‍🔥✨

Our main character Jamie is everything you’d want in a leading lady/final girl and is so likeable. Her friendship with Laurie and undeniable attraction with one of the guys (not saying names as I want to keep this spoiler free) is so, so believable… and there’s a seriously steamy scene that takes place in the janitors closet mid-murder spree that had my jaw dropped! 🥵

It’s technically a book about a speed-dating event gone wrong but turns into the ultimate fight for survival for our FMC. I was rooting for her the whole way and raced through those pages. Definitely one to have on your list if you grew up watching classic horror/thriller movies, or if you love a good tear jerking romance - so many that are all mentioned in this book which I loved!

I had a great time with this and it’s definitely one of my fav books of 2026 so far!!!!! Although it’s highly implausible at times, it’s just such a great little slasher… Maybe “fun” isn’t the right word because some of the deaths are actually so gruesome but this still managed to make me laugh out loud constantly 😂 4.5 stars
