݁⋆⭒˚.⋆ Do you believe a villain can be redeemed, or are some things impossible to come back from? ✮⋆˙

Below took the world Brea built in Above and made it hurt in an entirely different way.

Above was about power, propaganda, oppression, and the systems that teach people who to fear.

Below is about what happens when you finally realize the world that shaped you was built on lies.

And no one embodies that more than Azazel.

The man I wanted to throw into the void in book one somehow became one of the most fascinating parts of this story. Watching him question everything he was taught—who to hate, what to believe, who he was supposed to become—was one of my favorite parts of the book.

Because what happens when everything you thought you knew falls apart? Who are you when the world that made you is no longer the world you believe in?

And watching Azazel discover that love isn’t possession or control, but choice, trust, and vulnerability…

The Azazel simping was REAL. I fear Brea really has me out here liking a light-haired MMC 😭

But beneath all the yearning, Below is a story about grief, survival, and rebuilding yourself from everything the world left behind.

Nova’s journey broke my heart differently this time. Sometimes surviving isn’t the end of the battle. Sometimes it’s learning how to live with what survival cost you.

And that ending???

Brea truly knows how to leave me staring into the void.

Now I’ll be waiting in the darkness for the final chapter. 🖤

This dedication is everything.

Moodboard for our moody MMC 😈

He wasn’t born incapable of love.

He was simply never taught how to receive it, give it, or recognize it.

& watching him learn was everything 🥀

From worshipping the world that made him to worshipping the woman who taught him how to see beyond it.

Az’s character development, everyone🧎🏻‍♀️

Available now on KU 🖤

Before someone says it:

This is NOT a Dramione fanfic. 😭

⋆˙⟡ Who is the FIRST fictional man you think of when I say “male yearning”? 👀

I need names. Give me ALL the recs.

Because I fear these men yearning have permanently altered my brain chemistry.

I don’t want “he likes her.” I don’t want “he thinks she’s pretty.” I don’t want shy.

I want DOWN. CATASTROPHICALLY. BAD.

I want the pining. The staring. The silent suffering. The jealousy. The emotional turmoil. The “I would burn the entire world down for you but God forbid I actually tell you how I feel” energy.

Give me a man who is hopelessly, pathetically, devastatingly in love (in fiction, obviously) and I will eat it up every single timeeee!

And if you know me, you already KNOW my top two yearners are Samkiel from The Throne of Broken Gods and Arin from The Jasad Crown. No surprise there because I talk about these men like it’s a full-time job.

So obviously, I had to put together some books featuring men who YEARn across romantasy, dystopian, and dark romance — based on my own reading experiences + some recs you guys insisted I add. (Yes, I need to meet Kaan. 🤭)

Because apparently I have dedicated my life to studying the art of fictional men being down horrendous for their woman.

Swipe through and tell me which yearning man I forgot because I KNOW there are some criminal omissions here and I want to meet them alllll 😈

And remember, friends:

a man who yearns is a man who earns ⋆˙⟡

Your girl’s first reel (so be nice to me) and obviously I HAD to highlight this absolutely STUNNING character ARC I was gifted from the chaos duo + Debra!! ݁⋆⭒˚.⋆

Jeanette & Alexis teased that some of the book decisions were intentional, so I was already nervous to see which character ARC I’d be blessed with… but actually opening this and realizing the thought behind it??? I was genuinely so honored & emotional🥹

Receiving THEEE Mistress of Bloodshed feels even more special because Alice quickly became a soul character for me while reading these books. The way she loves deeply & fiercely, protects her people, speaks her mind even when it would be easier to stay quiet, and refuses to make herself smaller for anyone.

She’ll stand her ground, fight back, and absolutely would set something on fire for the people she loves… and honestly? Same. I get it!! ❤️‍🔥

Getting to read this story as an ARC was already such a gift, but being trusted with something this intentional and beautiful means SO much to me. Thank you for trusting me with this and for welcoming me into one of my absolute favorite teams. The authenticity and genuine care you three have for your readers never goes unnoticed, and I’m so grateful I get to be a small part of it 🫂

I’m very, very grateful I found my way here 🖤

Sorrow & Strangers comes out September 8th!! 🫵🏽😈

🌙 What’s the slowest slow burn you’ve ever read? 🌙

Because I genuinely think this one might have taken the crown for me.

I read a lot of enemies-to-lovers, deadly trials, romantasy… but I can honestly say I have never read anything like this book.

What Sara did here scratched an ache I didn’t even realize I’d been carrying.

My girl Sylvia… I’m not usually someone who inserts herself into characters, but forgive me just this once because I have never felt so seen. Strong, guarded, constantly carrying more than she should. A neglected orphan girl who learned early that survival meant silence, distance, control. She struggles with touch, with vulnerability, with letting herself be soft.

And when she does allow herself to love? She loves fiercely, completely, without half measures. That contradiction felt painfully real to me.

Watching her slowly, hesitantly build connections after years of being alone was one of the most tender parts of this story. The quiet formation of found family — among the heir’s soldiers and in the fragile bonds Sylvia begins to claim for herself — felt just as powerful as any battle scene. It wasn’t loud or instant. It was gradual. Earned.

And then there’s the slow burn.

When I say this is the slowest slow burn I’ve ever read, I mean it with my whole chest. This isn’t longing in grand gestures. It’s tension in glances, in carefully chosen words, in conversations that feel like duels. Every time these two simply talked, I was on edge.

And Arin… our heir.

I’m usually the first to admit I’m a certified blonde-MMC hater. But a silver-haired heir with terrifying discipline, quiet control, and the emotional restraint of a man who has trained himself not to break? Yeah. I’m sat. Immediately. No notes.

This story is political, emotional, and deeply character-driven. The pacing is patient — almost painfully so at times — but it allows every relationship, every crack in the armor, every moment of trust to feel earned. Nothing here is instant. Everything costs something.

Some stories entertain you.

Others quietly hold you in their hands until the very last page.

This one did the latter for me. taken in BOOKSTA by @readnreps

🕷️ Who is YOUR favorite superhero? 🕸️

If you know me, you already know I’m an absolute ride or die when it comes to Spider-Man. He’s genuinely my favorite character in the entire Marvel universe, and I don’t think I’ll ever recover from the chokehold this man has had on me since childhood.

The humor? The heart? The “I’m carrying the weight of the world on my shoulders but I’m still gonna make a joke about it” energy? Yeah… that’s my guyyyyy🕷️

Also I’m saying it now: Tom Holland is THE perfect Spider-Man and I will die on this hill 🙂‍↕️🕸️

So obviously when I saw Spider-Man Brand New Day was coming out July 31, I finally had the excuse I needed to make these Spider-Man book memes that have been living rent free in my head for weeeeksss.

Peter Parker is depressed again? The world is ending? He’s suffering? Everything is falling apart?

We really look at emotionally damaged men with tragic backstories and say “yes, actually… let him be a little tortured.” 🙂‍↕️🕸️

WE ARE SO BACK.

Tell me which slide is your favorite because I need to know if we’re sharing the same brain cell 👀

And WHERE ARE MY SPIDEY PEOPLE AT??? Because I have dedicated basically every day this month to wearing a Spider-Man shirt and honestly? Zero regrets. I love it here 🕷️ taken in BOOKSTA by @readnreps

࿔⋆˚✮ Do you ever get posting anxiety after taking some time off? ✮⋆˚࿔

Hey friends, long time no post.
June was… a lot.

Imaginarium was my first book event, and I still don’t really have the words for it. It was soft and overwhelming in the same breath. Meeting authors who once lived only on my bookshelf felt unreal in the best way. And being perceived in public?? Genuinely unwell about it. Like... you KNOW me?? 😭

I left DC not wanting to leave. Then I came home to a shattered car window, and everything after that just... tilted.

The month got heavier, and I think I started disappearing in small ways I didn’t notice until I was already gone.

I kept meaning to come back. I kept thinking I’d post when I felt “ready,” whatever that means. But posting stopped feeling like expression and started feeling like something I had to get right.

Eventually, it just became easier not to post at all.

But I missed this space! I missed screaming into the void and pretending it’s not a void at all. I missed you!!

So here’s a little recap of what June looked like: Imaginarium, solo coffee dates for self-care, showing up for everyone around me, and a reading life that barely held itself together but somehow still did.

Thank you to everyone who checked in when I went quiet, and especially to those who offered support after my car window was shattered. I didn’t realize how many people I had in my corner until I needed them. I appreciate you all more than you know 🖤

The last slide is just a little reminder to myself— and to anyone else who might need it 🫂

Now back to our regularly scheduled chaos...
What did June look like for you? 👀📖📸

Camera Crumbs from my first book event 🥹💜

June camera crumbs 💫
It was…a month

Obsessed with this pillow stand are you kidding me!!

I cannot thank everyone for the kindness & generosity shown to me when my life felt like it was imploding. I have so much love for this space & the people I found here ❤️‍🩹🫂📖

Just a little reminder.

You are so loved 🫂💫 taken in BOOKSTA by @readnreps

How was your May? ⋆⭒˚.⋆

Mine felt like a blur of airport terminals, coffee runs, hospital visits, grad school assignments, family time, and Imaginarium prep.

There aren’t many reading updates or impressive stats this month (I’m sorry 😭). For me, May was spent showing up where I was needed most: taking care of my grandmothers, keeping them company, and learning that sometimes the most meaningful moments happen away from the pages 🫂

It wasn’t always easy, and it definitely wasn’t the month I had planned, but looking back, I’m grateful for the time I got to spend with the people I love.

And if you noticed I went a little quiet this month—that’s why. A little drained, a little foggy, just trying to be present. But I’m backkkkk 🤍

Now somehow it’s June, and Imaginarium is tomorrow. I’m equal parts excited and veryyyy nervous, but mostly grateful to be heading into a weekend surrounded by stories and people who love them as much as I do!!

Here’s to messy months, small joys, and memories worth keeping anyway

Alsooooo, has anyone been to a book festival before? 👀 Any tips for a slightly anxious, very excited, occasionally shy book girl are greatly appreciated ⬇️📚 taken in BOOKSTA by @readnreps

🌸What are some of your favorite books by AANHPI authors? 📖

How often do we read stories shaped by AANHPI voices without fully recognizing the histories, cultures, and generations of resilience woven into every page?

AANHPI stands for Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander. It’s a broad and beautifully diverse community made up of countless cultures, languages, and lived experiences. Sort of like a constellation of stories. Stories of migration and memory. Of displacement and belonging. Of joy, survival, and the quiet courage of carving out space in a world that has not always made room for you.

Literature has always been one of the most powerful ways to understand one another. Through these books, we are invited into worlds both imagined and real. We fall in love, wage wars, unravel family histories, and confront the truths that shape our identities. We are reminded that stories have the power to bridge oceans, preserve memory, and make us feel a little less alone.

This carousel is a small collection of books by AANHPI authors that have stayed with me as well as stories I hope to read soon. Books that challenged me, comforted me, and expanded the way I see the world. From sweeping fantasies and tender romances to memoirs and histories that demand to be remembered, each one offers something meaningful.

And while May is AANHPI Heritage Month, these stories deserve to be celebrated long after the month ends. Representation is not a trend, and cultural appreciation should never be confined to a calendar 🤍

To the authors who have carried their histories across borders and generations, who have written in defiance of silence and in pursuit of being seen: thank you. Your words matter. Your stories matter. You matter.

And to everyone who reads this: I hope you find a book here that teaches you something new, makes you feel deeply, or reminds you that the world is so much bigger and more beautiful than we often allow ourselves to imagine.

🌸📖🤍

.𖥔 ݁ ˖ What are some things you find yourself hyper-fixating on lately? .𖥔 ݁ ˖

I asked this the other day and I honestly loved seeing what you all said. These are some of the things that reminded you of me — the little connections you made, the way we somehow ended up resonating over the same kinds of stories, music, and moments. So this is just a little carousel born from that. And you guys truly warmed my heart because I have never felt so seen 🥹🫂

So if you’re reading this, I hope that when you think of me, it’s a little bit of everything I love all at once — the stories that wrecked me in the best way, the songs I’ve screamed at full volume, the characters I still think about like they’re real people I once knew. Books that stayed under my skin, silly poetry & longgg captions because I love to write, old shows that feel like comfort in another form, and music that feels like both protest and memory.

I hope you think of soft mornings with an iced banana latte, of playlists from your childhood when you thought Warped Tour was just a phase, and of people that remind us art has always been survival too.

And most importantly, I hope you think of Palestine — always. Of resilience, of memory, of refusing to be erased even when the world tries to look away. Of a people who have loved and lost and continue to hope and dream 🍉

Maybe that’s the point of it all anyway: we’re all just collections of the things that moved us, broke us open, and put us back together differently.

Post inspired by @kaitkeepsreading & @whatsjanessareading — I loved seeing this trend and was so excited to join in! Also thank you to everyone who took the time to help me narrow down all my hyperfixations ❤︎

Fun fact: I tend to hyper-fixate on a lot of things, so who knows — a couple months from now, this might all look a little different 😈

So tell me… what do you love, and do we share any hyper-fixations? 👀🫶🏽 taken in BOOKSTA by @readnreps

݁⋆⭒˚.⋆ What’s the last book you read that felt a little too close to reality? ✮⋆˙

Brea didn’t just write a dystopian fantasy with Above.
She wrote a mirror.

The kind that makes you pause—
and realize the scariest parts of her world
don’t actually feel fictional at all.

What starts as fantasy slowly unravels into something unsettlingly familiar—
systems of power, propaganda,
and cruelty justified in the name of “progress.”

Dystopia doesn’t invent horrors.
It exposes the ones already hiding in plain sight.

And at the center of it all is Nova—
a character shaped by impossible choices
and a world that keeps trying to break her.

But what makes her story linger
is that quiet, stubborn resilience…
the kind that refuses to disappear
even when everything is stacked against her.

The relationships only sharpen that tension.

Talon keeps you on edge—
trust that builds, fractures, and leaves you questioning everything you thought you knew.

And Azazel…

He’s the kind of character you want to hate instantly.
And you do.
But the more you understand him,
the more you realize he is just as much a product of the system
as he is its enforcer.

It doesn’t excuse him—
but it makes every moment between him and Nova sharper, heavier… harder to look away from.

And somehow, their banter still finds a way to slip through it all.

And that ending?

Yeah. I just sat there staring.

Because stories like this don’t just entertain—
they stay with you.

They make you question power, cruelty,
and how easily people justify both
in the name of “betterment.”

Some stories don’t feel like fiction—
they feel like a warning.

And @authorbrealamb didn’t just tell a story…
she made it impossible to look away.

Now excuse me while I stare into the void until book 2 🖤 taken in BOOKSTA by @readnreps

What’s your “I can rewatch this 500 times and never get tired of it” show?

Allow me to introduce one of my comfort shows … New Girl 🙂‍↕️

Also… it’s finals week and life is actively testing me, so I did what any sane person would do and made memes instead of studying or doing my work 🙈

Somewhere between deadlines and too many thoughts, I just needed something light. Something familiar. Something that doesn’t ask anything of me except to laugh a little and take a breather.

Hope you’re all having an amazing week 🫶🏽
and if you made it this far… tell me which slide spoke to you 👀🤣

ꫂ❁ What does your Next Up look like right now? ˖᯽ ݁˖

Last, Now, Next…but with a twist, because would I be me if I didn’t slightly overcomplicate something that’s supposed to be fun?

I don’t want to call it a reading slump… but I will say I’ve been moving through books a little slower lately. Life’s been loud in its own way, finals week absolutely fried my brain, and eldest daughter burnout has definitely been doing what it does in the background.

Now? It’s summer. I survived spring semester. I had barely a week off before my summer class started, but I’m really trying to meet life where it is instead of where I wish it was.

I’ve applied to graduate my master’s program in August, which still doesn’t fully feel real when I say it out loud. The weather’s been warming up, so I’ve been learning myself in new ways outside of my room too: walks, more sunlight, more movement just because I can.

And I’ve been keeping one small promise to myself: to stop being so shy in the world. Just me, my thoughts, and learning how to take up space without feeling guilty.

What’s next?
After some pleading, some crying, and a little bit of luck, I managed to get an Imaginarium ticket 💜 so if all goes well (and my anxiety behaves), I’ll be in DC next month surrounded by some of my favorite authors and bookish people. Still kind of surreal to say out loud 🥹🫶🏽

I’ve also got a stack of ARCs I’m hoping to finally prioritize, plus a few books I keep seeing everywhere that have been sitting on my shelf like, “read me already.”

Fangirl season is officially back!! I read Off Campus years ago so I’m basically going in fresh all over again, and Marvel rewatch era is officially underway because Spider-Man prep is serious business obviously 😈🕸️

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and I won’t lie…it’s been a heavy few weeks.
Some weeks are louder than others, but I love that we get to exist here together anyway— talking about books, life, and everything in between.

My DMs are always open if you ever need a safe space to talk or just be 💌

Thank you for letting me exist in this space ❤️‍🩹🫂 taken in BOOKSTA by @readnreps
