𝒜𝓊𝑔𝓊𝓈𝓉 𝑅𝑒𝒸𝒶𝓅 & 𝑅𝑒𝒶𝒹𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝒲𝓇𝒶𝓅𝓊𝓅

My literary odysseys in the month of August felt like standing on the threshold between two seasons — summer’s last light fading into that first cool, hush of Autumn. All 4+ star reads, traversing into genres of sci-fi dystopian, dark academia, horror, paranormal, and murder mysteries. I continued the second arc of my beloved Red Rising saga with Iron Gold, watching this world crack open in ways I didn’t see coming. But the true glorious haunting of my month came from Leigh Bardugo’s — Ninth House and Hell Bent — which are, without question, 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡. Dark academia horror at its most atmospheric, morally tangled, and impossible-to-put-down best.

I also had the honor of buddy reading Nightshade by Autumn Woods alongside @readnreps — a dark academia, enemies-to-everything romance that was the perfect palate cleanser between my series reads of Ninth House and Red Rising. Thank you for buddy reading with me, Amanie ✨ always a sweet reminder how reading together is its own kind of magic. And of course, our family buddy read marches on: we’re about 47% through Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, witnessing the wizarding world darken right alongside our own descent into spooky season.

PHEWWWW! This week has been crazy enough that it took me ALL DAY to round up my thread laughs for the week!

⁉️ tell me about your week: crazy? calm? chaotic? conventional? coasting?

My week:
⏰ early call time on a Monday
🚗 400+ miles for work travel (read: almost all audiobooks this week)
✏️ meet the teacher night

I finished a couple books- Funny Feeling by Tarah DeWitt and A Night Like This by Julia Quinn!

In the middle of: The Poison Daughter and Butter! (Which is super fitting given it’s the Iowa State Fair… IYKYK 🧈 🐄)

Thanks for being here! Love ya, mean it.
