Our best gym members are over 60.
Here’s why that’s our biggest advantage ↓

When I opened my first Fit Body location, I assumed our best clients would be the young, motivated crowd.

The 20-somethings chasing abs and posting gym selfies.

I was wrong.

The people who showed up most consistently, and stayed the longest, were adults over 60.

And many of them are chasing one thing...
👉 The freedom to keep living life on their terms.

But here’s what most gym owners miss:
❌ Most of them had already given up on gyms.

They’d walked into places that were too loud, too intense, and clearly not built for them.

So they left. Not because they were weak. Because no one built a room for them.

That’s exactly why we created Fit Body Forever.

A program built from the ground up to help adults 60 and older get more out of the years ahead.

Today it’s one of the fastest-growing parts of our business...

And it can be for yours too.
✅ You get clients who stay for years.
✅ They get a gym that was finally built for them.

The people the fitness industry wrote off became our most loyal members.

43 years of life. 2 years of writing. 4 days until my first book launches.

When I started writing this book, I thought it was about mindset, resilience, and leadership.

But the deeper I went into my story, the more I realized it was about something bigger.

I went from a broke personal trainer to building a fitness business.

Then came setbacks that tested everything I’d built, including a pandemic that pushed my leadership to its limits.

At the time, I wasn’t looking for lessons.

I was just trying to survive.

But writing it all down, I started seeing a pattern:

↳ Adversity exposed what wasn’t working.
↳ Reflection showed me what I needed to change.
↳ Putting those lessons into action turned my setbacks into breakthroughs.

And if you’re going through a difficult chapter right now, I wrote this book for you.

Because your hardest experiences don’t have to define your future.

They can become the foundation you build it on.

On October 20, Turn Adversity Into Advantage officially launches. And I couldn’t be more excited to share it with you.

Your ability to perform in life starts with your physical health.

Think about how much your body carries every day.

The decisions you make at work.
The energy you bring home to your family.
The way you respond when life gets hard.

When you’re exhausted, everything becomes harder.

It’s harder to focus.
Harder to stay patient.
Harder to show up at your best.

That’s why I believe taking care of your body should be a top priority.

I follow three simple disciplines that I call the Performance Trinity:

• Strength and conditioning to build resilience.
• Clean nutrition to fuel my body and mind.
• Restorative recovery to maintain energy and focus.

When you push through a tough workout...
↳ You build discipline.

When you choose nutritious food over convenience...
↳ You practice self-control.

When you protect your sleep...
↳ You prepare yourself to show up stronger tomorrow.

Over time, they give you the capacity to handle pressure, make better decisions, and show up for the people who count on you.

Because adversity doesn’t just test your mindset.
It tests your ability to keep showing up when things get hard.

And the way you take care of yourself today helps determine how you’ll perform tomorrow.

—

I break down the full Performance Trinity, and how it helped me lead through adversity, in my new book, Turn Adversity Into Advantage.

35 years of friendship. From 8-year-old kids to 43-year-old men. 🙌

In August of 1991, my family fled Georgia, and I landed in the suburbs of Detroit with a thick Southern drawl and a fresh start.

Enter Eric.

A Filipino-American kid who, like me, loved soccer, sports and life.

We hit it off!

From grammar school to high school, learning to drive, becoming college roommates and fraternity brothers, and eventually navigating adulthood together.

Fast forward 35 years.

Life looks a lot different.

Careers. Families. Responsibilities.

We don’t see each other nearly as much, but the bond remains strong.

And for that, I’m incredibly grateful.

Here’s my reminder:

Life moves fast. And while most of our energy should be focused on building a brighter future, don’t forget to look back.

Remember your roots.

Remember where you came from.

And most importantly, remember the people who helped shape your journey.

Because at the end of the day, relationships are life’s true currency.

Grateful for you, Eric. Here’s to another 35 years! 👊

Your turn: Tag a lifelong friend who’s been part of your journey.

Let’s give them some well-deserved love! 👇 taken in Berkley, Michigan by @realbrycehenson

One embarrassing moment can keep you hiding...
Or it can push you to change your life.

For me, it started with three words:
“Islands for nipples.”

I was 21, living in LA, and desperate to fit in.

At a Beverly Hills rooftop pool party, I stood shirtless next to my roommate Adam, who looked like a Greek statue. Six-pack abs, broad shoulders, glistening muscles.

Then one of the guys shouted across the deck:

“Bryce, what is going on over there, dude? Looks like you’ve got islands for nipples.”

Everyone laughed. Except Adam.
I laughed it off, but inside I was embarrassed because the joke was true.

The next morning, I told him:

“Hartwell, enough is enough. Can you teach me how to get in shape?”

He grinned and replied, “Hell yeah, man. I thought you’d never ask.”

What followed was brutal:

• Adam dragged me under the barbell four days a week.
• I was so sore I could barely sit down.
• Pasta and Taco Bell were off the menu.

I wanted to quit every day. But I kept showing up.

Twelve weeks later:

→ 20 pounds of fat lost.
→ 20 pounds of muscle gained.

But the biggest change wasn’t physical.

Adam gave me a plan, held me accountable, and pushed me past what I thought was possible.

The discipline I built changed my confidence, my career, and my life.

It set me on the path to becoming CEO of Fit Body Boot Camp.

That story is in my new book, Turn Adversity Into Advantage, where I share the five levers that turned my hardest experiences into my greatest strengths.

We all have our own “islands for nipples” moment. The one that hurts enough to make us say, “Enough is enough.”

The question is whether we let it define us or use it to get better.

Your adversity can become your advantage. But you have to do the work.

I go deeper into how one embarrassing moment and one great coach changed the direction of my life in my new book, Turn Adversity Into Advantage.

Proximity is POWER! 🔥

This past week, I spent some intense but incredibly rewarding time with my leadership team planning Q4 and building the foundation for a BIG 2027!

We worked hard. Challenged each other. And grew together.

But here’s the lesson..

When you surround yourself with talented, driven, like-minded people, EVERYONE rises.

And sometimes, the best part of proximity isn’t in the boardroom.

It’s in the hot tub, sharing laughs, building relationships, and enjoying the journey with people you love.

Because relationships are life’s true currency.

My mindset message?

Be intentional about WHO you surround yourself with.

After all, Proximity is Power!

🔥 I unpack this powerful principle in my new book, Turn Adversity to Advantage, launching October 20!

The only thing more dangerous than a leader with a sharp mind?
One with a strong body to match.

As a leader, your mind deserves the investment.
It’s what makes the calls, solves the problems, and sets the direction day in and day out.

But don’t forget:

That mind is attached to a body.

And your mind can only perform as well as the body carrying it.

Now, I know what some of you are thinking:
🗨️ “I don’t have time to live in the gym.”
Neither do I.

I’m the CEO of Fit Body, a group fitness franchise with hundreds of locations across North America.

Fitness is literally my job.
And my entire routine takes about 45 minutes.

Here’s what my mornings look like:
⏰ 4:30 a.m. High-intensity resistance training.
🧊 2 to 3 minutes in the cold plunge.
🥤 Protein shake.

Then I’m out the door and leading my team.
Because the goal isn’t to look like a bodybuilder.

It’s to build the strength, stamina, and resilience required to carry the weight of leadership.

So when the pressure rises, your energy doesn’t disappear.
Your focus doesn’t fall apart.
And your sharp mind still has a strong body behind it.

—

I go deeper into how physical strength builds the energy, resilience, and capacity to lead in my new book, Turn Adversity Into Advantage.

Your healing can’t depend on someone else finally saying the right words.

A lot of people carry pain from someone close to them:

→ A parent
→ A sibling
→ A spouse

Someone who hurt you and never said sorry.

For me, it was my father.

When I was eight, he came home drunk and turned violent with my mom.
Within 72 hours, my mom, my siblings, and I fled to my Grandma Josie’s house in Michigan.

I didn’t speak to him for decades.

But distance didn’t make the pain disappear. I’d moved on with my life, but part of me was still carrying it.

Years later, my psychologist told me the trauma was still alive in me, whether I admitted it or not.

Then he told me to do something I had no interest in doing:

📞 Call him.

It took me weeks to work up the nerve to call. When I finally did, he answered softly. Calm. Kind. Nothing like the man I remembered.

He talked about his life and his work. He never asked about mine. He said he’d love to stay in touch.

Eleven minutes later, it was over.
❌ No apology.
❌ No reckoning.
❌ No grand moment that suddenly made the past hurt less.

I sat there feeling hollow. And sitting in that hollow feeling, I realized I had been waiting for something I didn’t actually need.

I could move forward without his apology or the closure I thought only he could give me.

Because sometimes the closure you’re waiting for isn’t something another person can give you.

It’s something you have to create for yourself.

So if you’re still waiting on someone to make it right, stop waiting.

You can choose to let go and keep moving forward.

—
That’s one of the lessons at the heart of my new book, Turn Adversity Into Advantage.

The hard things you carry don’t have to keep controlling your future.
You can face them, learn from them, and turn them into your strength.
