Took the fam out to see Silence of the Lambs the other night for the 35th anniversary!

It was our dad’s favorite movie. My parents took @realheatherblaise to see it in theatres when it first came out (which is hilarious because she was like 12 years old & who tf was watching the twins?!) We grew up watching it all the time and our dad, the consummate prankster, would excuse himself to go to the bathroom or go to bed a quarter of the way through and then reappear a half hour later and fuss around in the kitchen. He’d then come up behind us and say “oh I love this part!” and when we’d turn to look at him he’d be dressed in a jumpsuit wearing the Hannibal Lector mask and scare the shit out of us! We’ve carried on the tradition with my nieces and nephews growing up and loving the 6x Oscar winning classic.

When he passed I got the mask tattooed in memory of him and last week my brother got the Death’s Head moth in the same spot which obvi made me sob like a baby. We miss our crazy pops every day and had such a fun time being together as a family to see it in theatres. I’m so lucky I get to be so close to them all and spend as much time as possible with them.

Today would should be celebrating Linda Mensch’s 75th birthday @menschlaw one of the nations Top Entertainment Lawyers, my best friend and colleague for 40 years. Linda’s hit and run has never been solved regardless of the cargo van that killed her on surveillance tape and impounded. There has never been an arrest. Linda left a big whole in the hearts of her family, her friends and all of her artists, filmmakers, fashion icons around the world. Linda was my mentor, my musical partner, lawyer & publ/producer we were a great team and we accomplished so much together. I’m not the only one, @nelirowland @joan Sullivan, Abe Thompson. @filmmakerbrian @angaliabianca, Ella Jenkins, @realheatherblaise @mavisstaples, Ohio Players, Syl Johnson, Lawyers For The Creative Arts, Jan Feldman, Michael Freeman all miss her immeasurable counsel & passion for us, and her unwavering ability to connect one another. Thinking of Linda on her Heavenly Birthday. PHOTO: At the Grammy Awards with Mavis, Yvonne & Pops Staples. We had the honor of escorting Pops down the Red Carpet after he won the Grammy Awards. Annie Lennox hosted the awards. She was backstage (wearing Minnie Mouse ears) and came up to Pops & said the Staples Singers were her biggest influence in music. by @realheatherblaise
