Dear ReeMulaaa,

Thank you.

You’ve carried me into adulthood in such a way only you could have. It’s crazy to say but you’ve been a part of me for so long, a small part to such a big whole.

ReeMulaaa was more than an instagram, she was a dear nickname, an inspiration, a video journalist, and even a safe space for some. I loved having you attached to me. You gave me somewhere to grow from, something to be proud of, you helped shape how I show up in the world.

You brought me through my first years of college, 2 successful life changing campaigns, a pandemic, severe depression, the loss of my Matriarch, my first AND second degree and now the first few brutal years of Adulthood. And for you, I’m so grateful. But alas, a girls gotta grow up one day and today is that day. Everyone say thank you and goodbye ReeMulaaa, she served us well.

I am excited to announce that this past Friday, I officially commenced my internship with Fresh Films. For the last 6 months, I have had the immense honor of participating in an accelerated program for aspiring Filmmakers! This program gave me the opportunity to explore my true passion in a genuinely fulfilling manner. I was able to push myself outside of my comfort zone by studying under industry professionals, collaborating with great creatives and learning new skills necessary to pursue a career in filmmaking!

Working with Fresh Films was honestly a dream come true! I received the opportunity to work diligently on several projects, where I directed a music video for Atlantic’ Record Artist Luh Dyl, joined a writers team and learned how to operate a camera! I am so excited to say that I have ascertained a beautiful sense of direction for the path that I want to take to develop my career. I have also been honored to gain a wonderful community that not only aligns with my chosen career but more importantly inspires me to hold myself accountable to the goals I have set for myself!

To culminate my internship, I was able to attend a phenomenal event curated by the Illinois Film Office. We were able to listen to panel discussions with industry professionals and network with like minded individuals. I’m am so thankful to have had this opportunity and I can’t wait to see what’s next for me!

Arnise girl… you broke my heart. I never thought in a million years that I’d go from speaking at your baby shower to speaking at your funeral in just a few short months. You were my girl, my sister, my bestie, my heart. Yesterday, I picked up the phone to call you on my lunch break as I do EVERY DAY, and realized that you won’t answer the phone anymore..

I was so proud to be your friend Arnise, so proud to know you because you are 1 of NONE. You showed me a new way of living that made me feel a sense of love I’d never knew was possible. You taught me how to fall in love with the little things, how to appreciate every moment no matter how big or small because they were all equally as important. You taught me that nothing is out of reach if you’re willing to do the work. You were BRILLIANT and I’m honored to have witnessed it. We didn’t know each other our whole lives but you always said it felt like we did and I was always so fond of that feeling, because it meant you felt as safe with me as I did you. I remember thinking Arnise is a girl I can fw forever fr, cause you just got it. No explanation was ever needed on what “it” was because what’s understood never had to be explained.. You were my graduation twin, my blonde bombshell sister, you were a special part of me.

I was so honored to come in your life at such pivotal moments; graduation, your housewarming, your engagement, your bachelorette, your wedding, your baby shower. I was so grateful to watch you break every glass ceiling and get the life you worked so hard for, the life you deserved. Anytime you called, I came no hesitation. I just wish you’d call one more time… We had so much more life to live, we were gonna take Alana to get her first passport stamp next year, get our PHDs together, we were supposed to be doing this life together… I’m so heartbroken to be doing it without you…

I miss you so much already sister. I miss you asking me to move to Delaware, I miss you asking me to take a shot with you, I miss calling you just to talk cause ik you wasn’t doing nothing in that damn office.

I love you so much it hurts, but I will be sure to be there for Alana & your family. We got this together.🤍 by @realityjae

My faith walk has always been my most enlightening journey. I’m grateful for all the roads that have led me here, especially the ones that have led me to my purpose in this lifetime, and my community of friends, which are more like family.
