Sorrow Laid Abed With Spring Begat an Earthly Bliss

Inspired by the William Morris poem, Spring’s Bedfellow, the lush carving across the cabinet depicts a verdant garden of mystical flora and fauna. As if sprouting from the ruins of a place long forgotten, the wild flowers are entwined in a dance of fervent passion despite the passing storm.

Realm is the Baltimore-based creative atelier where aberrant and eclectic design meets ancient craft. Founded by artists Ian Murphy and Stevie Pniewski, Realm was conceived as a space where off-kilter form and playful expression blend with bold ornamentation across mediums. Bespoke, handcrafted objects and furniture with a healthy sense of mischief and seduction.

Black walnut

Inspired by the tenacity of weeds that burst from fissures in the sidewalk, that flourish atop derelict rooftops, or emerge from piles of abandoned trash, the Weedeater side table is a testament to the idea that the failing infrastructure and decline of our cities is one step towards a verdant utopia where the ruins of industrialization are reclaimed by nature.

Gloom Mirror 🖤

The carved frame ripples outward in dark, cloud-like forms intersected with black hearts. At its center, the polished copper glows warm against the shadowed wood, its surface waxed to a soft, hazy finish offering an ethereal reflection. The contrast between the frame’s brooding edges and the copper’s ember-like warmth creates a quite tension of twilight charm.
