Thought it might be worth showing you some of my tools & other stuff I need to make just one piece of jewellery.
It’s a little un-organised but as I go through it,I will be able to have a little stock take & chance to clean the tools too.

Anyway,thought you might like to see. Maybe not? I know some are interested in the tools & why I use them.

Something can look lovely on paper or pretty simple. The question is, will it actually work in metal.

I’ve been playing around with shapes for some new pieces and I’m looking forward to seeing which idea will survive once I start making.

Lots of play, experimenting and surprises I’m sure.

Becoming a mum has changed my world in ways I never imagined, and somewhere amongst the nappies, dog walks, endless washing and half-drunk cups of tea, I’m trying to make room for myself again.

I’ve got all these ideas flying around my head, things I want to make, skills I want to learn and directions I want to explore.

But bloody hell, starting again is harder than I expected!

There’s the excitement of it all, but also the fear of getting things wrong, wondering whether I’m capable and trying to find enough hours in the day.

I’m slowly learning that I don’t need to have it all figured out. I just need to keep having a go.

And I’m actually rather excited to see where it all takes me.

Anyone else still figuring things out?

Have you ever lost touch with something you love?

I’m learning at 42 that we don’t always lose the things that make us who we are. Sometimes they just get buried beneath life, responsibilities and everything else that needs our attention.

And perhaps finding our way back isn’t about becoming who we used to be, but discovering who we are now.

I’m still figuring that part out, and I suspect I always will be.

I’d love to know, is there something you’ve been wanting to reconnect with? Something that used to bring you joy?

The metal has been ordered! My first metal order in so many years.

And I’ve got sooo many ideas dancing around in my head about what I want to make!

Hoops,bangles both in silver and brass. Stacking rings, all hammered and a few other experiments I’ve been wanting to try.

I’m excited to hammer again,it’s been a while and there is just something about that sound, the rhythm and watching the metal change.

I’ve ordered a few extra bits for something different,something I’ve been wanting to try for a while now. But for now that’s for me 🤎

I’m looking forward to sharing the process with you. From the first process to the finished pieces.

I’m intrigued to discover what emotions might come from this! A lot has happened since I picked up the hammer and struck metal.

Anyway, it’s very exciting and I’m nervous but I think they are nervous butterflies of excitement.

Oh any thoughts on what my mystery things I’m making?
Leave a comment you never know it might spark another idea.

Something a little deferent,away from the making and creating.
Just us, outside.

Rain on our faces, wind through the trees, little feet splashing in puddles and the dogs.

The ordinary moments I never want to take for granted. I was thinking on one of my walks that it might be nice to create a little film for us to remember these moments & when we’re not around.
Obi has something to look forward to back on.

But for now, this is a little glimpse of life between the making.

I’ve just ordered metal.
For you it might not sound particularly exciting but for me it’s huge.
(I’m so excited but equally nervous)

I haven’t ordered metal in YEARS & YEARS. I think about 3/4 years(wow trying to do the timeline math there).

But now I have a heaps of ideas in my head,pages becoming full of sketches and a whole load of metal coming my way. Some for jewellery & some for things I can’t show you yet.

It feels slightly surreal if I’m being honest. To be actually at the point where I’m like ‘right, I’m actually going to make this’.

I’m still figuring out how to bring my ideas together but I will!
If you were sat next to me right now, my excitement would be infectious.
It feels like something is beginning again.
Like ‘ooooooh….what if I tried this or this,would this happen’.

I’ve missed this.
So much.

It took a little while to find my flow once I put pen to paper, but when I did, the ideas were abundant.

I’m so grateful for my imagination & really looking forward to bringing some of these ideas to life. 🤎

When j was rummaging through some of my older work, I pulled these pendants out.

They are made from recycled Sterling Silver,melted on a charcoal block. Each piece has came away holding its own marks and I just left then just as they were. Formed by heat & a charcoal block I made one day sat around a fire.

They’ve been tucked away for a while. I’d love to see them worn.

It takes all this mess,over days or sometimes weeks,to sort my brain out.
It’s still pretty loud in there and I’m not quite through it yet,but slowly I’m sifting through the thoughts and everything that’s ended up on the bench.

I’ll pick up something I made years ago,or something I found recently and suddenly it sparks another idea. So mess grows a bit more before I know what to make.
