✨🩵It’s publication day Team!!!!! Eeeeekkkk!!! 🩵✨

I cannot believe the day has come where I can say Finding Yourself within Disability is OUT!!

It was an absolute dream to write this book, to write about things that I deeply care about, to celebrate the disability and all it is, to write about the struggles too and how I am navigating them, to write about how I seek disabled joy. I truly truly hope that by sharing snippets of my own experiences I can help others too or at least let others know their not alone ❤️

A massive enormous thank you to my mum and my sister Mairead who not only supported me through this project and listened to every twist and turn I had, but I am grateful for their support with everything they really are the woman I am today. It was an ABSOLUTE given that this book would be dedicated to them❤️

A huge thank you also goes to @jkpbooks for saying yes to this book and making a very big dream come true 🩵

I have also been so overwhelmed by your support on here and I am genuinely so grateful for all your kindness that you have shown. As a bit of an anxious girlie the last few months have been a real test in confidence and you have played such a role in helping ease nerves around book countdowns, so a big big thank you Team ❤️

I really hope Finding Yourself within Disability is a book you will love…. she is now yours 💌

This book is dedicated to my gorgeous mum and beautiful sister Mairead. Thank you for everything, I love you with all of my heart xx

Who is this book for?
This book is primarily designed for disabled people, so when I use words such as ‘you’ or ‘we,’ I am speaking to the disabled reader. This is for the reader who:
* has not looked at disabled self care before
* participates in disabled self-care and wants to read another perspective, perhaps adding to the ways that they look after their disabled self
* hasn’t really thought about their disability
* feels shame or as if their by @rebeccasullivan__

I am so so SOOOO excited to share…. I have written a book that will be published on September the 21st and can be preordered now!! 💙🩵💙

Finding Yourself Within Disability: How to Look After Your Disabled Self, is all about implementing self-care to our lives as disabled people. From how we self-identify as a disabled person/ person with a disability to self advocacy to wrestling with internalised ableism to finding disabled joy, I share how we can start to be kinder to our disabled selves.

I have been absolutely itching to share with you this news for so long. From hours of writing on my laptop and now essentially handing this book over to you, it is a very surreal thing!!

I have could not have done this without my nearest and dearest supporting me all the way. I love them so very much ❤️❤️❤️

And huge thank you to @jkpbooks who allowed my dream to come true!!! 💖

There is so so much I want to share with you about this… but for today I will say that you can now preorder Finding Yourself Within Disability through the link in my bio 💙💙

I truly appreciate you sticking around Team and all your support 💞

Between these lines is the book title: Finding Yourself Within Disability- in dark blue. At the bottom is the subtitle How to Look After Your Disabled Self, in dark blue. There is a cup of tea in the bottom right corner and a chocolate chip cookie in the top left. The name Rebecca Sullivan is at the top in dark blue. On the photo there is a speech bubble that says ‘I wrote a book.’

Reads I’m recommending are
@jesskbacon ’s ‘I’m Just A Girl’ about women having a ‘second girlhood’ 🎀
@fearnecotton’s ‘Likeable’ on not getting caught in the viscous cycle of being liked. 🩷
@katherinemay_’s ‘Wintering’ on life’s seasons and finding comfort in difficult times🍂

Plus… a cheeky plug of my book (don’t think I’ll get use to saying that) Finding Yourself within Disability about disabled self care🩵

It’s Cerebral Palsy day and here’s what CP means to me 💚

Alt text: a series of photos of me , a white woman with brown hair with text
Having Cerebral Palsy means

#WhatCerebralPalsyMeansToMe #WorldCerebralPalsyDay #CPDay #WorldCP #GoGreenForCP

Bering 1 of the 18 million people in the world with CP (which I experience my own version of)

Being a little uncoordinated in movement, but I love to be coordinated with my clothes ( even when I clash colours 🙃)

Wheeling everywhere, with these GORGEOUS butterflies (if I do say so myself)

Sometimes experiencing others treating me
like I’m from another planet which can hit hard sometimes…. that’s a lot of expectation ( but
really it’s just CP it’s really not that deep)

Getting annoyed with myself at the amount of time it takes me to do tasks when in my head I’m miles ahead ( reading a book with tea and biscuits, if you know, you know 🙃)

Needing to rest a bit more than I like or than I used to. Pain has really decided to play its part especially this year ( at this point shares in Deep Heat isn’t a bad idea)

Being just a girl who has her own way of doing things (yes sometimes this means having another pair of hands to help me and that’s okay)

Cerebral Palsy means something different to everyone who has it and its features will vary. I know that for me my pet peeve is being compared to someone else with CP, so this is a gentle nudge not to do this by @rebeccasullivan__

One of the highlights of the summer has been this @myroamate mobility aid . As well as a motorised wheelchair it can also act as a walker. Easy to transport and gives me ultimate freedom to….wheel around!
When out and about it’s such a nice feeling to be able to get around myself, being able to wheel alongside the people I’m with. Especially when out in nature and just take in the surroundings as I go!
The walker feature also been hugely beneficial for me , being able to stretch my legs and muscles, which is definitely something I want to implement a regular routine with.

I really enjoy using @myroamate and it is such a brilliant mobility aid for ambulatory wheelchair users.

Fancy one yourself? Well, in case you missed it- I have for you a little discount code: REBECCASULLIVAN to get $300 off Roamate. This discount can also be accessed via the link in my bio 🩷
