🏃‍♂️ Running for Movember!

A huge well done to our colleagues Jamie and Dom, who took on the Royal Parks Half Marathon last weekend in support of Movember, completing 13.1 miles in under two hours! 👏

Movember raises awareness of men's mental health, suicide prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer, helping to fund vital programmes and support services.

Congratulations to Jamie and Dom on an incredible achievement and for raising awareness of such an important cause. by @recorrauk

Connecting young people with nature 🌱

@umthombotrust's Soccer Club and Eco Youth Circle recently enjoyed a 9km hike through the beautiful Knysna Forest, exploring their local ecosystem and learning more about why it’s so important to protect it.

We’re proud to support initiatives that encourage environmental awareness and create lasting positive impact. by @recorrauk

Turning Data into Action 📊💚

Air quality sensors collect the data, but technology helps turn it into meaningful insight.

At @gstt.nhs , data analytics and video technology are helping identify the causes of pollution events, giving the team the information they need to address issues at the source and make informed decisions that support cleaner air.

Celebrating the power of cargo bikes 🚴 🌟

Last week, our Waste Operations Manager, William Pinder, joined the 7th annual London Bridge Cargo Bike Ride, cycling from King’s Cross to Bermondsey to support efforts to reduce delivery emissions across SE1.

It was great to take part in an initiative that champions lower-carbon transport and highlights the role cargo bikes can play in creating cleaner, more sustainable cities. taken in London Bridge by @recorrauk

Every year, an estimated 1,200+ battery and vape fires occur across the UK's waste system.

Fires can start at any stage of the waste journey – from waste stores and compactors in workplaces, to trucks and recycling facilities.

To help everyone tackle this growing risk, we've created a free Battery & Vape Recycling Awareness Toolkit containing ready-made posters, email templates, social media assets, and more.

Download the resources and help spread the message: one battery or vape in the wrong bin is all it takes to start a fire.

Data That Drives Cleaner Air 🌱

At @gstt.nhs air quality sensors and video analytics helped identify the causes of pollution events in a busy loading bay.

Using these insights to take targeted action at the source resulted in:

💚 55.6% decrease in the intensity of emission spikes

💚 24.3% reduction in the frequency of emission spikes

A clear example of how better data can deliver measurable improvements in air quality.

What Can Brighton's Restaurants Do to Reduce Food Waste? 🍽️

That's the question at the heart of a new research project led by the @uniofbrighton bringing together local restaurants, @restaurantsbrighton Brighton & Hove City Council and Recorra.

Recorra is providing data from food waste collections across the city, helping researchers build a clearer picture of what is being thrown away and identify patterns that could help restaurants reduce food waste.

With 82 tonnes of food waste collected from the BN1 postcode area in June alone, there is plenty to learn.

The next step is turning those insights into practical changes, helping businesses cut waste, save resources and make the most of the food they buy.

Just one battery or vape in the wrong bin can be enough to start a fire during collection or processing.

A Great Way to Round Off Our Fundraising for Dementia UK 💜

Last month, members of Recorra walked a marathon in a day to raise money for this important cause, raising an incredible £7,987.

Team Recorra hit the water at @Lakeside Shopping Centre's Heroes & Dragons Festival in support of @bdandthurrockyoungcarers.

We might not have taken home gold, but we did knock an impressive 15 seconds off our race time across the day and proved that teamwork really does make the dream work.

Thanks to Lakeside for the opportunity to get involved, challenge ourselves, and support an amazing charity making a difference to young people in the community. taken in Lakeside by @recorrauk
