A little love note to @recreateclothing 💌

Around 90% of my wardrobe now is made up of clothes I consider mindfully chosen and lovingly kept. Pieces I reach for often, care for and enjoy finding new ways to wear.

Spring and summer can still be a little tricky for me because i find it challenging not to be conscious with my size ( just an honest woman in her 30s) I want to feel comfortable without feeling lost in too much fabric. One loose piece paired with something more fitted seems to give me a lovely balance. I can’t remember where I picked up that little rule, but it works for me. 😌

I’m also drawn to quality fabrics with texture and character. Knowing that care has gone into how they’re sourced and made adds an extra glimmer.

So let me introduce you to @recreateclothing . Their commitment to fair employment, training and opportunities for their makers in Cambodia gives me more to appreciate beyond the clothes themselves.

The team kindly gifted me some favourites from their past collections, which I’ll be slowly introducing here as they settle into my everyday wardrobe.

I want my recommendations to come from actually wearing, using and loving what I share. So expect these pieces to appear on ordinary days, in different outfits and on repeat. That’s how a piece earns its place in my little wardrobe. 🌿 I appreciate you so much ReCreate Fam! Thank you for making a difference .

Every morning, this is where it begins 🤍 Srey Leak walks to work, unlocks the door, and heads upstairs to our little workshop in the heart of Dey Tmey, Cambodia.

It might look like just one floor of one building, but to us, it means so much more. This is where our garments are made. Where skills are shared. Where friendships have grown. Where women earn an income, support their families and create opportunities for their children. We love it here — not because it’s perfect, but because of the people, the energy and the community that surrounds it.

The impact of ReCreate doesn’t stop at our front door. It ripples out — from the women in our workshop, into their families, and further into the community around them.

This is the heart of ReCreate, and we’re so grateful to call it home 🤍 by @recreateclothing

This is the community behind ReCreate 🤍

Dey Tmey is a community in Cambodia with a story of resilience that sits at the heart of what we do. The families here were forcibly evicted from their homes in Phnom Penh, losing not only their houses, but the security and community they had built around them.

But they rebuilt. Through determination, hard work and an incredible sense of community, the people of Dey Tmey have created a place to call home again — building small businesses, raising families and creating opportunities for the next generation. It’s here, amongst these streets and these people, that ReCreate began. When you see a ReCreate garment, you’re seeing more than fabric, stitching and design. You’re connected to a community that has shown what can be built through perseverance, opportunity and hope.

These patterns are the beginning of every ReCreate garment. Our team works across two languages — English and Khmer — so there are plenty of moments where things get lost in translation, need explaining, re-explaining, or simply looking at from a different perspective.

It can be challenging. But it’s also one of the things we love about working between Cambodia and New Zealand. Different languages. Different perspectives. One shared goal: to make beautiful clothing that puts people first 💛 by @recreateclothing

@leoniefnr in the Etta Reversible Dress ✨ Leonie isn’t a professional model. She’s just an all-round wonderful human who came along to our Raglan photoshoot, believed in what we’re doing, and somehow made the Etta look like it was made especially for her.

Which is really the best kind of ReCreate girl — no posing required, just good humans who care about good clothes, good choices and doing things a little differently 🫶
