Caught the first waves of the season on an amazing spring day 🤗 There is no better nervous system reset than salt water, sand, sun and snacks. It was so needed this weekend 🙌

Science backs this up too. A 2023 study published in the Journal of Environmental Psychology demonstrated that coastal environments slow down breathing and reduce sympathetic nervous system activity 🙌

We've been through some really emotionally draining stuff lately, so we take little steps like this to support our health and the kids' too. I hope sharing what helps us inspires you to use these tools through the waves of life as well.

A little love note to @recreateclothing 💌

Around 90% of my wardrobe now is made up of clothes I consider mindfully chosen and lovingly kept. Pieces I reach for often, care for and enjoy finding new ways to wear.

Spring and summer can still be a little tricky for me because i find it challenging not to be conscious with my size ( just an honest woman in her 30s) I want to feel comfortable without feeling lost in too much fabric. One loose piece paired with something more fitted seems to give me a lovely balance. I can’t remember where I picked up that little rule, but it works for me. 😌

I’m also drawn to quality fabrics with texture and character. Knowing that care has gone into how they’re sourced and made adds an extra glimmer.

So let me introduce you to @recreateclothing . Their commitment to fair employment, training and opportunities for their makers in Cambodia gives me more to appreciate beyond the clothes themselves.

The team kindly gifted me some favourites from their past collections, which I’ll be slowly introducing here as they settle into my everyday wardrobe.

I want my recommendations to come from actually wearing, using and loving what I share. So expect these pieces to appear on ordinary days, in different outfits and on repeat. Slow fashion begins with a thoughtful question: Will this have a meaningful place in my life? ☺️

Slow fashion is also an approach to clothing that values the people who make it, the resources it uses and the years of wear it can give us. It invites us to buy thoughtfully, care for what we own, repair when possible and enjoy wearing our favourites again.

A higher price or a “sustainable” label alone does not make a garment a responsible choice. The Materials, working conditions, construction and how much we actually wear it all matter.

Living in our little mountain town has made me appreciate clothes that belong in my actual life. Layers for changing weather. Shoes I can walk in.Mindful clothing that feel just as right for a café catch-up as they do for a slow wander through the Misty Mountains.

So before buying a new outfit, I’m learning to pause.

Can I picture reaching for this again and again? Will it work with what I already have? Do I love how I feel in it, or am I hoping someone else will love how I look?
That last question can be a little uncomfortable.

It’s so easy to admire someone’s outfit online and feel we need a piece of it for ourselves. I still admire beautiful clothes. I still have a wishlist. But I’m getting better at appreciating something without needing to bring it home.

Mindfulness belongs in these small decisions: checking what I own before shopping, caring for a favourite piece, making a repair, and being honest about what I will actually wear.

I hope to keep building a wardrobe that feels like my life: a little practical, a little whimsical, warm enough for the south, cool enough when the sun is too bright and comfortable enough to stop thinking about my clothes once I step outside.

3 reasons to come and visit I&P this long weekend!

1. We have new brands to discover! Our Delivery from the Toyo Enterprise suite of brands was delivered yesterday. Sugar Cane, Buzz Rickson’s and Whitesville is now available in store and stock is getting low already 👖

2. Yesterday we also received a new capsule from ReCreate’s AW26 collection! Think sustainable stretch denim and organic cotton jersey, perfect for the daily uniform!

3. We have new I&P Recycle pieces coming in daily! We won’t have any online drops next week while Henry is away but there will be plenty of goods to check out in-store!
