Renovating our beautiful 1840 Rectory house.
Learning as we go and hoping we don’t f*ck it up ✌🏾

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Short(ish) story. It’s been 2.5 years since Sam sent me the listing to our dream ‘creepy’ house next door to the cemetery. We wondered why it hadn’t come up in our search before and turns out it had originally been listed for about 150k more but no one was interested. We caught it the day it dropped down to our price range and after a few viewings and lots of debate we decided to go for it. We bid on it expecting a full on bidding war but we were the only ones and after the clock counted down it was ours (we sat in silence for about 2 mins after, half buzzing half “what the f*ck have we done 🥲).

It hasn’t been an easy ride so far. There has been lots (seriously lots🫠) of trial and error, but the pay off has been SO worth it. And we have had a laugh in between wails of despair 💃🏾

Still so many projects left to come (kitchen reno about to kick off) and it’s daunting as hell. But always nice to remember how far we’ve already come and how we’ve managed to not completely destroy the house..yet.

Special mentions goes to YouTube and our families for their help along the way.

✨ THE BATHROOM ✨

So what we thought would be a few months to complete ended up taking the whole of 2025 🥲

Cannot tell you how proud I am of Sam doing all of this himself. So many days where he was absolutely hating his life but this guy is nothing if not determined.

It’s exactly as I imagined in my head and now my fave room in the house 🤍

A few more finishing touches needed but ssh it’s done! Swipe to see how far we’ve bloody come 💃🏾💃🏾💃🏾

More progress and 2 consecutive posts which is a rare thing.

The plan with the patio reno was always to do it as cheaply as possible, so using bricks we already had and getting the paving stones free from FB marketplace was an absolute touch. Cos let me tell you what ain’t cheap- bags of sand and we needed a fair few of them 🫠

As a result it isn’t really going to be a matching patio situation, but free is free AMIRIGHT and I love it as it is.

Minus yano, the shit everywhere but we’ll get there 🙏🏾

Who knows how many parts this is gonna be but 3rd coming up! by @rectory.reno

First half of the Garden Patio progress.

This space hasn’t been properly usable since we moved in and even though an extension is in the (extremely) distant future, it was time we did something with it.

The biggest shout out to Sam who has been working relentlessly on this, learning new skills left right and centre with the help of his dad. Heroes the pair of them.

Assistance from me came in the form of de-ivying and project managing*

*stood at the back door asking “how you getting on?”

Excited to show part 2, it is looking CUTE. by @rectory.reno

Garden Update 🌱

The first of 2 garden projects we started this year. This one we started and finished back in April/May.

The flower beds have since become a dumping ground to accommodate the 2nd project but nice to look back on when it was newly done 😅

Excited for when it’s all clear again and beds are built. Then it’s gardening era UNLOCKED and I’m learning how to grow veg. Can’t. Wait. by @rectory.reno

Simply a post about my growing plant obsession.

They are slowly taking over the house to the point where I feel like some of them should be paying rent, but without them the house just feels so empty. I love em 🫶🏾🪴

This isn’t even all of them and we definitely do not have space for any more, but will I keep buying them? Probably. by @rectory.reno

We’ve been very garden forward these last few months (photos incoming) so not a lot has been going on in the actual house recently.

But finally got some stair rods (fb marketplace ofc) that Sam has fitted and I love em👌🏾 by @rectory.reno

God today really feels like a Spring day, we’re SO CLOSE guys. Brighter mornings, longer nights and hopefully a lot less f*cking rain.

Love the house against a blue sky 😍 Also got some new pots for the front and they haven’t had any grid time yet so here they are! (As I’m posting this I’ve realised I’ve left the label in one so pretend you can’t see that)

The hatred I have for that ugly gas box remains strong, but with a quote of over 1k to have it removed I guess it’s staying there forever.

Anyways, hope you’ve also got sun wherever you are!🌞 by @rectory.reno

Picked up another find for our kitchen redo from our fave FB marketplace ofc. Got this (highly essential) wine fridge for £45 and the plan is for it to go into the kitchen island.

We’re always doing most things ourselves so just trying to document a little better for anyone that might find it useful. Happy Monday!

Happy Monday 🌞
Had some dead nice comments about our house recently which has been lovely 🤍
But as I’ve mainly been posting the nice stuff, here’s some less aesthetically pleasing bits for a touch of reality 😅

Our house is essentially sponsored by Facebook marketplace so here’s one of my favourite buys. Knew I wanted a solid wooden vanity for the sink to go on but the ones I liked online were £400-500 🫠 So I was THRILLED when this cutie came up.

The black detailing matched the bathroom perfectly so I was buzzing and it really didn’t need much doing to it. Waterproofed and tiled it was ready to go! In love 😍

Reno tip: focus on one room to renovate so you can sit in there, close the door and forget how much of a shit show the rest of the house is.

The Living Room was that for us and 2 years on I still love it especially the colours 😍

Window seat and built in cabinets still to do and I want a picture frame TV SO bad. But for now the perfect place to sit and watch Heated Rivalry.
