It is not the mountain we conquer but ourselves.-Edmund Hillary . . Throughout our lives, we face these conflicts that occur within ourselves. They may range from micro-arguments between two opposing thoughts rattling around in your brain, to full-scale fights you find yourself in that are sometimes identity-defining. Somewhere deep within those conflicts, comes growth. And what I learned growing up is that it's not so much ending the battle, but rather finding ways to navigate your way around the battlefield. How do you confront those doubts that sneak up behind you? How do you tackle growing fractures that are caused by the stressors around you? How do you rise above your inner demons? There's a great quote that I love from one of my all-time Marvel movies, "Doctor Strange"; "We never lose our demons, We only learn to live above them." by @redd_arrow

"Inspiration exists, but it has to find us working." - Pablo Picasso. . -- . Whenever I work on multiple projects in one day, I try to use my break times to look for different sources of inspiration throughout various fields, with no real search boundaries or purpose. Just cool new things (or old vintage visuals) that spark up a new idea for my next project. You may find me looking through Pinterest for a good portion of my lunchtime, or spending my Saturday afternoons watching online video ads and trailers or maybe looking through Instagram and following as many content creators as possible. . . . I've spent this time in lockdown to explore and create things that I've always wanted to do. Artworks that have been on my mind for a while with the visuals I've hoarded myself. (Hence why the past few Instagram posts have been very visual) . For me, my go-to has always been comic books and movies as its probably the first foray to storytelling that I had when I was a kid. In that it allows me to look into different human perspectives while enjoying the spectacle and fantasy of it all. . . . With that basis of inspiration, I then look to other aspects of that, like how one markets a story or a film with trailers, posters, or merchandise! Which is why I love bobbleheads to much now. It encompasses all of that in a single item. Maybe one day, I'll be a bobblehead—one day. . . 🎧 - bad guy - @billieeilish by @redd_arrow

"Redefine the possible." - Stewart Brand. . -- . I try to find opportunities to reinvent myself and to redefine who "Redd" is. The overall goal is to be a version of myself that's different from the previous year. I can't always say a "better version of myself" because that in itself varies in meaning. It could be picking up new skill sets or changing the way you display yourself to the world or even just setting up new habits that allow me to grow in more ways than one. These small, self-driven acts will enable you to underline your own identity and meaning, living in the values that you've set for yourself as you try to find your place in the world. . It gets rocky at times, and even I lose focus of who I am in stressful times. What I've learned that it is essential that you take a second, breathe and take one small step forward and find that clarity within yourself and live each day with your purpose. . . The exciting part here is that you're in control of this. You define yourself, day in and day out. It is your story to write, and it is your world you are building. You can control your reality with your actions and reactions. This idea may be hard to remember, but when you do, the possibilities are endless. by @redd_arrow

⚫️⚫️⚫️ Through Pain ⚫️⚫️⚫️ . . . Here's the final artwork of this 3-piece series. This one was hard to draw and publish as out of all the recent artworks; this one is closest to my truth. . . A lot of my identity is forged through pain and trauma through my early years. Still to this day, there are some remnants of that that linger within me. I think all of us have it. We often to choose to move fast in life or run away from it that we forget to process and heal these wounds. And in doing that, we leave these wounds open, unresolved and could cause problems within ourselves in the future. . . This artwork was a way for me to confront this truth. While I am a self-made individual, I'm still the same kid that's still getting over things through art. And for me to feel like I am presenting the most authentic version of myself to the world, I would have to have a level of vulnerability to show all sides of myself, even the broken ones. by @redd_arrow

Breaking my accidental IG Posting hiaturs to post this artwork! Honoured to be able to collaborate with @sumthindumplin and @thegreatnihs on creating a cool artwork to promote their new limited edition dumpling "Super Monk" This was the version I presented to Shane upon completing the piece. Got inspired with a lot of retro Kung-Fu movie posters and artworks and brought in a bit of modern flare. Thoroughly enjoyed working on this! taken in SumthinDumplin by @redd_arrow

(Repost) . . . . One of the things I’ve always wanted to do is to make a static artwork move and breathe. So I took one of my character designs and animated it through through After Effects. Added a bit of fire 🔥and boom, we got ourselves and potential Street Fighter. by @redd_arrow

"Human + Machine - Part I", January 2021 done in @Procreate. Swipe to see detail shots and a full shot. - To further practice my digital artworks and push the boundaries, I wanted to do more human anatomy work. I've been trying to nail down some painting techniques on these things, and I think I've found a few brushes I am gonna settle on. Initially, this artwork would continue the previous post as I really enjoyed revisiting that concept. But over a few conversations with @phi.filler (who's actually the model for this piece), I thought to tackle a bit of mech work into the piece and turned him into a cyborg to bring some juxtaposition with the natural curves of the human body. . Thank you to @phi.filler for being an excellent reference point for this! His physique is insane, and I commend his hard work and dedication to his bodybuilding. Incredibly inspiring and an all-round nice guy too. by @redd_arrow
