O Breaker of the Louz (2025-ongoing)
يا مكسّر اللوز (2025 - مستمر)

“O Breaker of the Louz traces the relationship between the people of Al-Qatif and the freshwater springs that have existed in the area for thousands of years. These springs single-handedly fueled agriculture and acted as the only source of freshwater in the area for generations. The springs were spaces of gathering, ritual and celebration, holding cultural significance to pre-Islamic and modern societies alike. Today, many of the springs have dried up and those that have not are nearing the same fate. This project explores the centrality of freshwater springs to Qatifi identity and lived experience. Guided by oral histories and folklore, the project fades between past, present, fantasy and reality with family archives, anthotypes and poetry accompanying images of what remains of the freshwater springs in Al-Qatif today.”

This project was developed during the 2025 edition of the Kingdom Photography Award Micro-Residency.

A special thank you to @msomji and @visualarts_moc for the opportunity and for putting together such an important programme.

Lots of love to @roisaade for his mentorship and guidance through the development of this work.

Most importantly, the project would not have been possible without my dear family’s continued support and the enduring spirit of Qatifi storytelling. taken in Al-Qatif by @redhaalhammad

L3eeb! (2024-ongoing)

I’m beyond grateful to have been selected as a winner in this year’s Kingdom Photography Award. It also means the world to me that my family and hometown were a central part of this coming together.

L3eeb! Is an ongoing project that investigates the connection between football and social life in Al-Qatif. The project explores the football’s ability to transform nonspaces into communal third spaces as well as the development of the city’s footballing infrastructure over time.

A selection from L3eeb! is on show at @hayyjameel until May 25th.
