I am delighted to say that I will be taking part in the event again this year. There will a large selection of my hand bound journals and sketchbooks on sale. Many of my journals are inspired by Nature! I use flowers as the subjects for the cyanotype prints I create the covers from.

I use wildflowers from the lanes around my beautiful Wiltshire home … Umbelliferae and Wild Mallows and Wild Field Poppies are my favourites. Oh, and I mustn’t forget the jolly Oxeye daisies, which grow in abundance right on my doorstep!

I also use flowers from my garden. I have a small garden, but I fill it with flowers of all sorts, but I find that Osteospermums, or African Daisies as they are commonly known, and Cosmos, and Black-eyed Susans all work really well. They are all daisy-like flowers and like the trusty Oxeyes, they make me feel happy and jolly!!

The way a cyanotype print is developed is through exposure to the sun’s UV rays (and you don’t a more natural energy source than that!) … wherever the sun touches the exposed paper turns a gorgeous deep blue. Where the flowers are laid, the sun is either prevented from touching the paper, or it is filtered through the petals and stems.

This leaves a ghostly image of the flower on the paper … the photographic “print” developed by the sun.

Every journal I create is one-of-a-kind, because every single cyanotype print is unique. Even if I use the same flowers, the same added ingredients, no two prints will ever be identical.

And that is the thrill for me. Every single print is an original. Every print has a character of its own.

Hello my friends

I have just published my latest Travel Essay from the Inner Journey ... The Myth of My Homecoming.

I am feeling all the delight of being in my SQ sphere, the heart of my Gene Keys chart. I am feeling the real childlike wonder of being in the sphere that governs the years from birth to seven years old. This sphere is all about love and fun and play and, for me, best of all, mythology and magic! There is a wonderful aspect to the Sphere of the SQ in your Gene Keys Golden Path …

Arriving in the SQ is such a relief! As I transcribed those words into my journal, which is my way of sinking lessons deep into myself, I felt my shoulders drop and my breath deepen and slow down. I felt myself relax a little more into my chair. Knowing that the SQ governs my heart’s longing for home makes this sphere of my chart feel like it is already my home.

After my dad died, 53 years ago, I spent a long time feeling cut adrift from home. I had felt lost, anchorless, rudderless.

I caught my first glimpse of home when my son was born, a glimmer of light after 23 years of darkness. Then, when I started the inner work, 18 months later, I felt as if I was embarking upon a journey home. I didn’t know where home was, I had no destination in mind in those early years of inner exploration, but I knew I was on the right path.

As I wrote my way deeper into the uncharted lands of my interior, I started to find nuggets of self-love. Sometimes they were more like shimmering dust, sometimes they were handfuls of gold.

It took me years of solitary excavation to discover that maybe, just maybe, the home I had been seeking all along was right under my feet. It took years for me to uncover the truth that the most important love of all was love for myself.

This makes total sense to me on an intuitive level. To “learn” something is to immediately place restrictions on it, to define it with specific parameters, to put it in a box. And as soon as you do that, you limit it. And the freedom is gone.

Freedom has no limitations, freedom is as vast as the universe … probably bigger even than that!! You cannot find a beginning or an end to freedom, there are no parameters, no measures. It simply is.

You have to feel into it with your entire being, with every level of consciousness and unconsciousness; it has to hum through every cell.

Freedom is like light or like a vibration, like a song, like air, like fire. Freedom is all of the elements and all of the atoms of our being.

Freedom comes with a deep breath in and a long sigh out.

Freedom comes with a loosening, a softening, a yielding.

Freedom comes on a great whoosh of understanding when breakthrough occurs, and in the gentlest of breezes when a layer is lifted and you see even deeper into your own soul.

Freedom comes when you watch a sunrise or a sunset and for a few fleeting moments you are entranced and consumed by colours that will never be repeated.

Freedom simply is.

Why not come along to the Goodworth Clatford Art and Craft Weekend, and get a head start on your Christmas shopping?

I am delighted to say that I will be taking part in the event again this year. There will a large selection of my hand bound journals and sketchbooks on sale. My hand bound journals come in many forms and sizes.

They are created using different traditional bookbinding techniques.

There are French Link Stitch journals, Coptic bound journals, paperback journals.

They feature original Cyanotype print covers, leather covers, and some full case hardback covers.

I love to use the most sumptuous papers ... handmade Khadi papers, rich watercolour papers, gorgeous calligraphy papers, recycled cartridge paper (because I love them to be eco-friendly, as well as beautiful!).

Some of my books have decorated fore edges ... painted with inks and gouache and some are sprinkled with gold leaf.

And when you open some of them, you'll be delighted by the pretty endpapers I have chosen.

Hello friends!

We've just published Season 2 Episode 14 of Conversations With A Couple Crones. We have just moved into the SQ sphere inside the Sage’s Golden Path Retreat. We both love this sphere, our Spiritual Quotient, which governs the years from birth to seven years old.

It was in our SQ last year that our website, A Cauldron of Crones, was birthed. The SQ is where we play and play, two kids, making mud pies in the barn! The barn is in the ether, it’s in our Voxer space, it’s in our website, and it is here in our Podcast … CWACOC! It’s all just so much fun.

Where Am I Now?

We started, as we often do, by asking ourselves the question … “Where am I now?”.

We have been on this inner path of self-discovery for many, many years. Decades. We are both seekers, and over the years we have both worked with many modalities. We have been travelling with the Gene Keys for several years now; this time, with the Sage’s Retreat, is Meghan’s fourth time through the Golden Path, and it is my third (although I have done the Activation Sequence four times).

This week, we have been talking a lot about how hard the inner work can be, how relentless the constant transformation can feel, how exhausting the work can be. We continued that conversation in this Podcast, and the wonderful thing is, through talking, the tiredness dissipated, through this deep connection of ours, the transformation becomes dynamic, the work becomes play!

We have come to the conclusion that we are Golden Path Girls, destined to be travelling this path for the rest of our lives, in one form or another.

SQ Sage Wisdom

We then went on to talk about our SQ Sage words and all the wisdom that goes along with them.

In the Gene Keys teachings, the SQ sphere is described as “the energetic hub of your entire journey along the Golden Path.”

Talk about magical! Talk about awesome! You’re going to have to listen … you won’t be disappointed! It is pure magic, pure childlike fun, with a sprinkling of elder wisdom.

Hello my friends,

I have just published another of my Travel Essays from the Inner Journey ...

This first week of travelling with my SQ Gene Key has been pretty stormy! Of course it has! The Sage Word is “Lightning Rod”; the Sutra is “The Storm Riders”.

It’s hard to reconcile this tempestuous energy of the Sage with the joy and delight of the SQ years.

The SQ sphere in your Gene Keys chart represents your life from birth to seven years. Elijah Parker described it as “A homecoming, a remembering. The mythical innocence.”

How do I reconcile the storm with this mythical innocence? I’m not entirely sure yet, but all I can do is explore the storm, and see what the wind whips up!

Thriving in Extremes

"Valorous souls who thrive only in the extremes", says the Sutra for GK55.5 … there is the echo of the Lightning Rod … not only have I weathered the storms that have assailed me, but I have also thrived. I could have been crushed by life, by the struggles I have had to overcome, by the pain I have endured; but I was not crushed. I survived. I thrived. I grew stronger.

But the storms have not hardened me and made me brittle; they have tempered me into the strongest metal, a wizard’s staff of copper that can withstand any lightning strike and channel the energy down into the earth.

I have written a lot over the last couple of days about this Lightning Rod strength that I have, and although I may only have had the name of Lightning Rod for these few days, I recognise that energy of riding the storm, for it has been the story of my life.

I love how I can see my life inside these archetypes of the Sage’s wisdom. I love how I can see the strength of the Warrior, the Valour of the Storm Rider, the conductive, elemental power of the Lightning Rod.

Hello my friends

And so my journey through my inner realms has reached the very heart of my Gene Keys chart, the SQ sphere. In the Gene Keys teachings, the SQ sphere is described as “the heart of your Venus Sequence. The Sphere of your SQ – your Spiritual Quotient is the energetic hub of your entire journey along the Golden Path.” This is an important Gene Key. It’s not only the heart of my chart, but it is also the heart of me as a person.

I just know that I will be writing more about the SQ and the Gene key that I have here in future essays (a lot more, probably!), but in my latest essay, I share with you the Sage Word and Line that I have here.

I knew that the Sage Word for 55.5 was going to be powerful, and “Lightning Rod” has not disappointed me.

A lightning rod attracts power; it attracts the energy of an electric storm. It attracts a bolt of power that would destroy most things.

The lightning rod is made of strong metal, like copper; but the most important thing about the metal is not its strength, but its ability to conduct electricity. Power flows through a lightning rod without harming it. It is strong, yes, but it is a channel, taking the raw, violent energy of the electric storm and dissipating that power into the earth.

I am the lightning rod when I do this work. I work with energies that could destroy me, but I channel them into my growth. Instead of being burned up by the heat of the storms in my life, I have turned them into a source of my own power. I have taken the pain and suffering of these storms and channelled it into fertiliser to feed my soul. I have taken the charge of the lightning strikes in my life and turned them into glistening blue and gold treasures of fused fulgurite glass.

That alone is something I could contemplate for the rest of my days, and be fulfilled by this inner work. Because that victory of love over fear is what happens to me with every breakthrough, with every layer I peel back, with every level of understanding I reach. Love conquers fear. If I continue to open my heart, then there is nowhere for fear to lurk. Fear likes to hide in the dark, fear likes us to have our hearts closed down, it likes us to shut ourselves into our own prisons, because then it truly does have a captive audience. It eats away at us in the dark recesses of our shadows.

But to keep our hearts open, to keep the light of love shining, even when the outer world feels dark, THAT is how we conquer fear. And it IS a continuous process. I can't say, okay that’s my heart open, what’s next?! Opening our hearts doesn’t stop; opening my heart is the primary goal of the rest of my life. Because only with that truly open heart am I going to love, only with that open heart am I going to grow and evolve. So it is worth doing the work every day to remind myself to keep opening and softening my heart.

In October's Bite-Sized Bravery, we are leaning into Equilibrium as our theme.

Equilibrium is the Gift of Gene Key 50, which is Meghan's IQ Gene Key. It is also one of the Pulses for October. And ... it's the Life's Work Gene Key for our website!! We're one year old this month!! Woo hoo!!! 🥳🎊❤️‍🔥

Hello my friends

I’ve just published my latest Travel Essay from the Inner Journey. This one is a loooong one! Put on a pot of tea and settle down to read some of my contemplations on the Siddhi of Illumination.

I have spent the last month or so deep in contemplation of my Emotional Quotient sphere in my Gene Keys chart. I’ve got Gene Key 64 here, with this delicious Siddhi of Illumination.

Now, you don’t need to know anything about the Gene Keys, you don’t need to know the definitions of “Siddhi” or what this EQ sphere is all about, in order to enjoy this essay.

And I choose that word “enjoy” carefully … this is about my childhood, specifically the years from 8 to 14, and in this essay, I was particularly focused on the first couple of years, which were, for me, all about joy!

I love that description of Illumination, for that wildness is the feeling I remember most from early EQ years. I was wild and free. My world felt limitless.

I felt limitless.

How perfect to describe my EQ Siddhi as being fully immersed in the wild, spontaneous beauty of life, because that is what my childhood was ….

A time of being steeped in nature, in trees and mountains, rivers and lochs.

A time of being surrounded by nature’s bounty, not only in the wilds of the Scottish Highlands, but on the traditional farm where I grew up.

I saw the beauty of life and abundance in its raw state all around me every day. How perfect to have this Gene Key 64 here. I lived this Gene Key as a child. I was the wild, spontaneous beauty of life in human form. I radiated life and imagination.

I am so lucky to have had that start in life.
