Two years in a row! We are incredibly honored to receive the PADI Pillars of Change Award for Outstanding Contribution to Ocean Conservation once again. This time as a direct tribute to the work of our PADI Eco Center in the Red Sea. This isn't just an award; it is a testament to the dedication of our team and the community that drives our mission forward.

This recognition is especially meaningful as it coincides with PADI’s 60th Anniversary. Receiving this honor while the global diving community is gathered together perfectly highlights the strength of our collective purpose. We want to extend our sincere gratitude to our colleagues at fellow PADI Dive Centers and the members who have supported us. Your camaraderie proves that we are truly stronger as one global family.

We owe a profound debt of gratitude to PADI and the PADI AWARE Foundation for their unwavering mentorship and belief in our vision. Most importantly, we thank our community of citizen scientists, students, and the team for fueling this journey. Together, we are setting a new standard for sustainable marine tourism. Not just as a goal, but as a blueprint to secure the long-term resilience and vitality of the Red Sea.

At the 44th International Sea Turtle Society (ISTS) Symposium in Hawaiʻi, it was an honor to have the RED SEA PROJECT™ work shown alongside hundreds of global initiatives. During the African Regional Meeting, we presented how local collaborations provide the "Ground Truth" for conservation issues unique to the Egyptian Red Sea.

Our scientific contributions were led by a presentation during the Population Biology Session: Projected Primary Sex Ratios, the Loss of Demographic Refuges, and Feminization in the Red Sea During the Past 124 Years.

Our research posters further highlighted the impact of citizen science, strong collaboration, and community empowerment. Research Poster 074 focused on injury and mortality patterns in the Egyptian Red Sea, while Poster 156 extended this approach to the Gulf of Aqaba, Jordan; meanwhile, Poster 093 investigated how "hitchhiker load" (epibionts) reduces host grazing efficiency.

A huge thank you to our partners and collaborators for their hard work on all fronts, and to the ISTS for hosting such a dynamic event. by @redsea.project

The flood is a gift. As it runs through the wadis, it feeds the seeds, the grazing lands, and the wells our communities depend on.

When we protect this land, the desert blooms, the Red Sea coast turns green, and the people who call it home thrive alongside it. by @redsea.project

The start of the school holidays is definitely our favorite time of the year, mainly because we get the kids to spend a full day with us at work rather than just a short visit! This season, we’ve leveled up our Junior Research Team scheme with some amazing new topics. As part of our Eco-School program, we hosted six local kids for an action-packed day of hands-on training at our Marine Conservation Center, where they jumped straight into learning firsthand about the marine ecosystems of the Red Sea and the serious threats our oceans face, like coral bleaching and marine debris.

One of the absolute coolest parts of the day was using the Turtle Trunk, an innovative tool developed by the Inwater Research Group. The kids stepped into the shoes of real marine biologists, assessing simulated sea turtle injuries and making tough, critical decisions on whether to rehabilitate or release them.

The excitement kept rolling as they collected water samples, discovered hidden microorganisms under the microscope, and played educational games that made big science incredibly fun. A massive thank you to the KarmSolar team for showing the kids around their solar power plant at Wadi Sabarah Lodge! It was awesome to connect ocean conservation with clean energy, especially since we are so proud to use this fantastic, sustainable project ourselves.

We wrapped up the day snorkeling on our house reef, and the kids completely blew us away with their swimming confidence and brilliant fish ID skills! We couldn't be prouder of what they achieved—the future of Red Sea conservation looks incredibly bright knowing these passionate little ones are growing up with the love and determination to protect it! by @redsea.project

Our outdoor seating area just got a major glow-up! Huge thanks to Tadamon - The Egyptian Refugee Multicultural Council for crafting these vibrant, exclusive cushions just for us.

Every stitch tells a story of resilience and creativity. They were handmade with love by the women and children within our community, making our new look feel even more special.

We have a limited selection of these exclusive cushions, plus tote bags and dozens of other handmade treasures from Tadamon available at our center.

100% of the proceeds go directly back to support Tadamon’s incredible work.

Stop by the center to grab a beautiful handmade piece and support a great cause—but hurry, stock is limited! by @redsea.project

Farewell to the Mountain’s Guardian

In Memory of Sheikh Ahmed Mansour Al-Jebali
Today, we bid farewell to a man who was more than a master herbalist; he was the voice of the earth and the sentinel of our highland heritage.

From Wadi Talah, Sheikh Ahmed transformed the mountain's flora into a "golden legacy". Not for personal gain, but to uplift the families and the future of the Jebali tribe.

Devoting his life to the 592 plant species of our land, 33 of which are found nowhere else on Earth. He taught us that within these sacred stones lies both healing and wisdom.

The peaks mourn today as nature loses its most faithful protector. He leaves behind an enduring legacy: a well for the thirsty, trees that bear fruit, and knowledge that continues to serve humanity.

Our deepest condolences to his family, the Jebali tribe, and the people of Saint Catherine. May you find peace and patience in this time of loss.

{أَنزَلَ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ مَاءً فَسَالَتْ أَوْدِيَةٌ بِقَدَرِهَا... فَأَمَّا الزَّبَدُ فَيَذْهَبُ جُفَاءً ۖ وَأَمَّا مَا يَنفَعُ النَّاسَ فَيَمْكُثُ فِي الْأَرْضِ}
