Cyclospora is rampant but Red’s has your back! It shouldn’t take a health crisis to support small farms. It’s logical and practical. 💕💕💕✌️ by @redsqualityacre

At Red’s, we stand in solidarity with all the folks and businesses participating in the ICE OUT General Strike today. As a small business and farm, our crew continues to work today in order to keep our neighbors and community fed, much like many farmers in NC and the US. We ask our leaders to defund ICE and to put an immediate stop to the inhumane treatment, detention, and violent acts against immigrants across America.

We stand in solidarity with our fellow farmers who may not have the ability to strike. To those whose safety and humanity are put at risk everyday in our fascist and calloused country. There are over 2.6 million people working on farms in the U.S., most of which are Hispanic noncitizen immigrants. Roughly 73% of the people picking the food that feeds our communities are Hispanic. And about 66% of these skilled farmers are noncitizen immigrants. These folks work tirelessly in a job that requires incredible strength, coordination, grit in the the toughest of conditions. Farm workers also experience increased risks due to climate change and severe rates of poverty. Think of the injustices they face while keeping the bellies of Americans full.

When you sit to have a meal today, reflect on all the people who worked hard to bring that nourishment to you. And beyond their efforts and contributions to our economy and food system, remember that despite the citizenship status and/or labor of our agricultural workforce, everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect— everyone deserves a seat at the table, to be seen, loved, and protected.
