The 2017 @laruewines Rice-Spivak is the kind of Pinot Noir that ruins you for everything else. Poured from a fog-kissed hillside on the Sonoma Coast, this is wildness bottled crimson at the rim, garnet at the core, alive in the glass before it ever reaches your lips.

Neither does this bottle.
I’ve chased a lot of labels across the Sonoma Coast but the 2017 Rice Spivak from @laruewines hits different. It’s not just Pinot Noir; it’s a topographical map in a glass. This is the bottle you open when the noise of the world gets too loud and you need something that tastes like the earth actually intended.
THE ARCHITECTURE
• The Foundation We’re talking Rice Spivak dirt. Volcanic ash and tuff that gives the wine a “blood and iron” mineral core. It’s tectonic.
• The Body Dark brooding fruit that doesn’t apologize for its intensity. It’s muscular but moves with the precision of a middleweight.
• The Atmosphere Imagine a cold Pacific wind hitting a campfire. Smoked herbs dried earth and a finish that lingers longer than a bad reputation.

DEAR SANTA: I CAN EXPLAIN... BUT FIRST, LET ME DECANT THIS. 🎅🍷
The tree is lit, and honestly, so is the terroir. While the rest of the family fights over the eggnog, I’m over here having a religious experience with this 2022 Clos Grangeneuve Pomerol.
THE TASTING NOTES?
It’s giving crushed black plums, dusty cocoa, and a finish smoother than your ex tried to be. It’s got that signature Pomerol velvet texture with just enough spice to keep you on your toes. 🍒🍫
Basically, it has better structure than my life right now.

🚨 STILL NOT RECOVERED 🚨
Just committed absolute violence on a 2005 @chateauhautbailly (Pessac-Léognan Grand Cru Classé) and I need to be institutionalized immediately.
This 20-year-old legend got dragged out of the cellar like it owed me money and then proceeded to ruin every other wine for me forever.
Nose: pure haunted Bordeaux sorcery. Crushed blackcurrant gravesoil, vintage leather armchair that costs more than rent, truffle shavings, pencil lead, and that whisper of old Cuban cigar your grandpa hid from grandma. I ascended.
Palate: liquid silk that suplexed my soul. Tannins so polished they ghosted, acidity doing ballet, flavors of black plum orgy → blood orange → smoked violets → espresso that lasts until next week. The finish is currently filing taxes in my mouth.
2005 Bordeaux is the vintage that refuses therapy and @chateauhautbailly is the quiet psychopath of the lineup: no screaming, just elegant murder.
I am deceased. Send flowers and more bottles.
If you ever see a 2005 Haut-Bailly in the wild, rob a bank, fake your own death, whatever it takes. Worth it.
