Some conversations may feel difficult to begin, but they can become meaningful opportunities for connection and trust.

Our “Beyond the Taboo” workshop brought parents together to explore how we can navigate the big, sometimes uncomfortable questions children ask — with openness, confidence and care.

A heartfelt thank you to @reebadaniell for facilitating such an engaging and thoughtful session, and to everyone who participated in these important conversations.

Because open conversations help build strong, trusting relationships.

What a mother needs in the immediate postpartum period.. whether she is breastfeeding, pumping, combination-feeding or bottle-feeding, is not just information. She needs practical, day-to-day tips and hacks that actually make life with a newborn a little easier.

For example, one little trick I used several times when Maya was a baby was leaving behind a T-shirt, nightie or pyjama that I had worn, sometimes with a little breast milk rubbed onto it. It carried my smell along with the smell of my milk, and that familiar scent could help soothe her and keep her calmer until I was back.

There are so many small things like this that can make the postpartum period easier, comfortable feeding positions and techniques, ways to soothe a crying baby, different ways to help a baby settle and sleep, baby-carrying and baby-wearing tricks, skin-to-skin and other ways of bonding, and simply learning to read your own baby's cues.

But alongside all these practical skills, one of the most important things a new mother needs is a village.

And that village doesn't necessarily have to look like the traditional extended family anymore. When Maya was little, I received a lot of support from the Facebook groups and online communities I was part of. Just knowing that there were other mothers going through similar things, sharing what worked for them and reassuring each other made a huge difference.

I would absolutely recommend that today's mothers find good online communities too, but don't underestimate the power of an offline village. Even if you can find just two other mothers with babies or toddlers around the same age, that little circle can become an incredible support system.

Sometimes you don't need twenty people around you. You need two or three people who understand this phase of life, with whom you can exchange ideas, ask for help, laugh about the difficult days and feel supported in doing what you believe is right for you and your baby.

Postpartum isn't meant to be figured out entirely alone. Practical knowledge helps, but so does having people beside you while you figure it out.

In this episode, @reebadaniell and I unpack so many layers of postpartum, sharing our personal experiences along with crucial information that I genuinely believe every couple should know, preferably before entering this phase, so they can be better prepared. And if you're already in the postpartum phase, there will be so much here that you'll watch and immediately resonate with.

In this particular clip, we talk about something we've probably undervalued all our lives, sleep. And then postpartum happens, and suddenly you understand its importance! 😄 It's almost like stubbing your little toe and suddenly becoming VERY aware that it exists.

Go watch the full episode, you'll love this conversation. ❤️

👉🏼 What was the biggest body-related change that shocked or surprised you during postpartum? Let us know in the comments. ❤️

Inthis beautiful episode on the fourth trimester, a survival guide to postpartum, I sit down with birth doula and childbirth educator @reebadaniell to discuss the many aspects of postpartum that couples need to equip themselves for, ideally during pregnancy, but at least in those first few weeks after childbirth.

In this small bite from the episode, I talk about some of the physical changes that can take us by surprise postpartum. But the full conversation goes much deeper, into the physical, emotional, relational and practical changes that come with this phase, and how couples can prepare themselves better for it.

If you're preparing for pregnancy, or even if you're simply curious about what no one talks about after childbirth, this postpartum conversation is one of the most comprehensive discussions you can watch. Postpartum is often the most overlooked phase of a woman's life, even though it can be one of the most physically, emotionally, and psychologically transformative.

In this conversation, we explore what really happens after birth, how family and society influence a mother's experience, what you can plan for in advance, and practical ways to reduce the risk of challenges like postpartum depression. We also share our own postpartum journeys -the lessons, the struggles, and what we wish every new parent knew beforehand.

Joining me is Reba Daniel, my dear friend, mentor, and guide, who is also a birth doula and childbirth educator. Together, we've packed this conversation with the kind of information we wish every expecting couple had before welcoming a baby.

Do watch the video, and let us know your biggest takeaway in the comments. If you found it valuable, please like, share, and subscribe to the channel for more meaningful conversations like this. taken in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu by @reebadaniell

WE GOTTA TEND THIS FIRE WITH CARE!

Usually when something is rotting, or gangrenous...deep interventions are very helpful. But without addressing root cause, real healing and sustainable change and health are not achievable.

Here's to having more such meaningful interventions from the #cjp
And also to proper understanding and planning of the systems changes that need to be put into place for sustainable change.

MOVE, MOVE,MOVEMENT

When i visited Vietnam a year ago, this was the daily morning sight all around Hoan Kim Lake (The Lake of the Returned Sword).

I marveled at the way people of all ages would come together every single morning and participate as a group in Movement, as a fun, engaging event of the morning.
Traffic on the road worund was closed off to vehicles....and only bicycles would be seen until around 8.30.
I was reminded that Fun is Beauty...watching large groups of lovely women playing music form speakers and focused on different types of movement.
One group of achievers, another group of gossip-banterers singing what sounded like older Vietnamese songs.
Some group were full and overflowing in long lines on the pavement.
Lovely ladies....some dressed up with the necklaces and full on makeup....still there for the Movement. Or was the Movement the excuse...for the social interaction. Either way, it really didnt matter...
During my 8 says there in Hanoi, I didn't see one single person who was very overweight. In fact, it was the first time in my life that after a couple of days I became aware that in most spaces I was the largest person 😁
But deeper was the reminder that if humans would gather every morning in groups that they were comfortable in, and agree upon the kind of Movement they wanted to do as a group, it would contribute a great deal to keeping a good BMI score and then translate to better health....from the looks of the videos...you would have gathered that I don't need to sell how effective this is for a person to start their day off on a good note.

"Your body is the result of what you do every day, not what you do occasionally." #janefonda

Reminder:
Be like Hanoi folk....MOVE THAT BEAUTIFUL BODY!

An ONLINE series,
OPEN TO ALL!

Here's an effective solution that works within your busy daily life.
An hour online at night, designed to help you to go into deep relaxation every night.

For years, we've been raised and praised for getting things done, multitasking, being efficient, on the go, switched on, getting it all done...🏃🏿‍♀️

Then our bodies remind us that this method is not what it thrives on. The mind gets more fragmented and frazzled. It's popularly called burnout, and we genuinely want to de-stress, but often can't figure out how. 🌟

🌙 Why at night? Simple - it's because after connecting to relaxation-meditation 23 years ago, I have very much experienced the deep benefits of being deeply relaxed and in a meditative state and then drifting into sleep from that experience. And I love getting at many birds with one stone.

🪶As the day winds down, your body system naturally shifts toward the parasympathetic state - the ‘rest and repair’ mode. When we work with this rhythm that the body naturally has -  the impact within the body and mind goes deeper.

Over these 11 nights, you may begin to notice:

• Better sleep and easier transitions into rest
• Reduced stress and anxiety levels
• Improved digestion and hormonal balance
• A calmer, more regulated nervous system
• Greater mental clarity and emotional steadiness
• A sense of being more at home in your body

No previous experience necessary, just come as you are, with an intention and a willingness to deeply relax and experience where the journey takes you.

Start date: Wednesday March 18
Time: 9.30-10.30 p.m.
Charge: Rs.1500

🌼 How to participate:
Make a gpay to 9349182939
Send a screenshot of the charges done to that same number via whatsapp
(If you are not added to a whatsapp group by evening, please send a reminder message on WA).

Learning to recalibrate is a skill that can be learned. Relaxation is a technique that can be learned.
Your well-being is in your hands. Come on and let's learn this together! ❤️
