A Corvette story... Today was a special day — as special as it could be. Today would have been my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary. Our family lost my Dad to Parkinson’s in 2018, so my parents shared 52 beautiful years of marriage. My Dad loved Corvettes. Over the years, he had quite a few — often buying wrecks, rebuilding them, driving them for a while, and then selling them to find the next one. But the last Corvette he bought and kept was a 1980 model. He told me it was special because 1980 was the year I was born. After we lost my Dad and were choosing his gravestone, I asked if we could include a Corvette logo. The monument maker said, “I think I actually have a Corvette design, but only one.” I assumed it would be a newer generation Corvette. As it turned out, the one design he had was the same as my Dad’s 1980 Corvette. Divine intervention? I like to think so. That design has been on my Dad’s gravestone for the past eight years. Although his Corvette only had 11,000 miles on it, it had been sitting undriven in the garage for nearly 30 years and needed a lot of work. I’m proud to say over the past few months I was able to have it restored — just in time for what would have been my parents’ 60th anniversary. So this evening, I took my Mom to visit my Dad in his 1980 Corvette — now with some tweaks for extra horsepower and a few more miles on it. Love you, Dad. We miss you dearly. 🙏🏻 by @reedharris2
