Heres a raw look at what Down an tight on a nice bluefin looks like. This fish was erratic , wanted to swim right into the motors and go under the boat the whole time. A boat and a captain are as successful as the crew on board makes it . I can gather intel, keep the boat maintained, and make the calls , but it’s who you call that ultimately will determine whether your day was a success or failed attempt. I already loved this boat but man I’m smiling so hard my cheeks hurt. Every time we get the deck bloody or plow through a wave , shit just the fuel burn numbers have me smiling . in 2020 I moved home from Las Vegas, “Sin city” was not good to me . I came home worse than just broke I was in debt, skinnier than ever from stress an smoking an not eating, world shut down over covid, 5+ year relationship down the drain . The list goes on. More bad than good, making me think “Are my best days behind me?”. I found a job right away an got myself a surfcasting rod with my first check…I knew going fishing was healthier for me than the bar. Now fishing didn’t fix my life, It was what I did while I fished that profoundly made a difference. I prayed. I fished almost every night alone but I talked to those sunsets until the stars came out an if I kept getting bites well I stayed an prayed to the stars too. I wrote things like “talk to the sky an the universe replies” on posts from 2020. I feel if I was ever going to write about my experience of finding my way back to GOD & being broken down to be rebuilt better, it is now.,with the world the way it is…..Had I not felt like I had someone watching over me I don’t think I would’ve moved with such confidence an faith on my way out of that dark place. I think right now sharing this story is the least I can do for all he’s done for me in my life,

Yesterday I had a plan , set up on my first drift an quickly realized the wind said “fuck your plan”. Now the plan was to catch some fish, Not catch a buzz an watch the sunrise with @jeepkid17 that’s just a bonus . So to the ocean I went in search of bunker. Seeing those flicks on surface isn’t easy when its 3-4s an blowing 20 , anyways 0 beers, an a couple fish later here’s my first shitty reel of 2025. Perseverance paid off - then I had beers…. by @reel_stoopid
