Last week, we celebrated 5 years of state school cricket at Lord’s 🏏

In 2021, the MCC Foundation (MCCF) launched its National Hub Competition for state-educated players. It gave thousands of girls and boys from its network of free-to-access Hubs the chance to compete for a place in a final on the Main Ground at @homeofcricket 🏆🏆

The competition has grown year on year, and last week’s Hub Finals Day - played in front of some 2,000 spectators - did not disappoint. In the Girls’ event, #Guildford came out on top against the #York Hub by four runs. In the Boys’ final, York beat #Leyton by 11 runs.

This year’s U16 and U14 National Hub Competitions were generously supported by Lord’s Principal Partner @barclaysuk

With one of the largest ever donations made to the MCC Foundation, Barclays will help Lord’s with their shared ambition of creating accessible and inclusive cricket for 10,000 young people by 2028.

The National Hub Programme forms the cornerstone of MCCF’s work in the UK, ensuring that every young cricketer can be empowered to reach their full potential in the game, regardless of race, gender, or socio-economic circumstance.

We are delighted to celebrate World Refugee Day today by announcing that the MCC Foundation has signed up to the Sports for Refugees Coalition, a body established during the 2023 Global Refugee Forum by the United Nations Refugee Agency.

Last month, the @alsamaproject - which supports Syrian refugees in camps near Beirut - won the Global Schools Prize, awarded by the Education World Forum. The school has received US$500,000 in funding from the Varkey Foundation as a result.

MCCF has supported Alsama since its inception in 2021 ❤️💛

Kadria Hussein, co-founder of Alsama, was invited to London for the awards - and it was our pleasure to host her at the @homeofcricket 🏏

Did you catch us on the news last night? 👀

We were thrilled to welcome back former pupil and England cricketer Chris Woakes to Barr Beacon School for an unforgettable day of cricket, inspiration, and community 🏏

From training sessions and coaching tips to signed memorabilia and national competition pride, it was a huge moment for our pupils and even caught the attention of Sky Sports, TalkSport, and BBC Midlands Today!

Plus, keep an eye out for your chance to win a signed England shirt in support of PAPYRUS.

Thank you to everyone involved for making this happen for our pupils.
