As a photographer, I’m always trying to find ways to take greater pictures, and explore new angles. But sometimes, the only answer is to simply… stop! It’s not every moment people need a camera in their face, and it’s not every single moment that needs to be shared. When you walk with discernment, you’ll be able to tell which tears to capture, and which to leave in secret. And from that place of sensitivity, you may come out with less images at times, but the right moments will be captured. And sometimes you also need a drink from the atmosphere. Put that camera down and receive your own moment! Let’s be real. You hardly ever print an image, or frame a photo just because it looks nice. The greatest photos are the ones that mean a lot to you. Ones that evoke emotions, retain memories, and tell a story (or multiple). Have you ever had a photo that was blurry, had bad lighting, or was pixelated in quality, and yet you refused to delete it because it captured a moment perfectly? It’s not always about the greatest equipment, the sharpest lighting, the brightest colours, or even the most profound angles. That’s not to say these qualities don’t matter. There’s nothing like a clean, vibrant edit. But they’re not what turns a mere picture into a prized possession. Photos are meant to be felt, not just seen.
