“Fashioning Chinese Women” at @lacma was yet another opportunity for our @chugoodingarchitects team to explore color more deeply. Here, the color palette was designed to support each group of garments and to promote the galleries’ distinctive atmospheres. Background colors that elevate, complement, or contrast each collection. The result of rigorous study of the garments and research from our project team. Exhibition design by @anniechuarchitect @wei.ware and Nancy Ai from @chugoodingarchitects

More than 130 pencil drawings later, @rickygood3 @rickygoodingart is still at it subterranea - scaleless imaginary and amazing technique coaxing emotions out of an obsolete vintage draughting pencil. Everybit of the dense black lead used even as powdered lead (3/4B) for smudging. 💕👍💪🏻 ink drop drawings are also some of my favs. #drawingwidow #soccerwidow #gardenwidow

Our philosophy has always been that design needs to address the continuum of architecture, landscape, and interior. My hope for the future of Los Angeles is that we do more to invest in education and design that benefits the public’s quality of life… so this next generation that values design will demand that even our city’s most mundane architectural features be both useful and beautiful. . Thank you again to the Los Angeles Business Council for giving me an opportunity to share my vision for L.A.

On October 24th, 1871, a violent mob descended on Chinatown in Los Angeles and massacred 10% of the Chinese population at the time. Astonishingly, I was not aware of this horrific event in our city's history until I was invited to join the Steering Committee for the 1871 Chinatown Massacre Memorial and, subsequently, the memorial evaluation panel. Thank you to the Los Angeles Business Council for giving me the platform to share this story and make a plea for the repair and healing that we so desperately need. Last fall, I had the honor of receiving the Legacy Award and being the Keynote Speaker at the Los Angeles Business Council’s 54th Architectural Awards @labcarchawards. Amongst friends and industry colleagues, I felt it important to commend everyone in the room for shepherding in changemaking projects throughout the city of LA, and I shared my vision for our city's future, including (as always) a focus on education. In order to continue evolving, we must design boldly, experiment, try new things, and continue to reinvent Los Angeles.
