Former President George H.W. Bush chose Texas A&M as the home of his presidential library, creating a connection to Aggieland that continues today. The library grounds at Texas A&M are home to the 4141, a Union Pacific locomotive that carried President Bush to his final resting place and now stands as a symbol of his life of service, continuing to inspire Aggies, visitors and schoolchildren who experience his legacy at the museum. Bush on July 26, 1990. This landmark legislation—championed with President Bush’s signature bipartisan leadership—marked a turning point in the nation’s commitment to civil rights. After decades of advocacy from the disability community, President Bush helped ensure equal access, opportunity, and dignity for millions of Americans. At the signing ceremony, he declared, “Let the shameful wall of exclusion finally come tumbling down.”
