Franklin Walker, Carter James, Saylor Kate, Allie Ray and Nova Mae celebrated their first birthday earlier this month with family and friends in Laurel. 🥰 The five, born at Wiser Tower for Women and Infants, spent their first weeks of life in neonatal intensive care at Children’s of Mississippi. 🌈

Last week, BankPlus brought a whole lot of holiday joy to Children's of Mississippi patients by transforming the Batson Tower's lobby into a Winter Wonderland. 🥰 A favorite part of the for the season, Winter Wonderland included an Ace Hardware Tree Farm where hospital inpatients could choose mini Christmas trees, have a visit with Santa and get some extra holiday goodies!🌲🎅

We had an amazing time at “Tailgating with Friends” hosted by Friends of Children's Hospital! 🎉🏈 Special thanks to Jackson State, Mississippi State, Southern Miss, and Alabama for bringing game day excitement to our patients! 🐯🦅🐶🐘 Patients loved meeting Sonny the Tiger, Seymour the Golden Eagle, Bully and Big Al, along with cheerleaders, players and coaches who brought big smiles! 📸✨ The day was filled with fun games, spirit tattoos and sweet treats like cotton candy and popcorn. 🍿🥳 Thank you to our Friends Volunteers and everyone who made this day unforgettable! 💛🙌

Kid Coach is a partnership between Children’s of Mississippi and the Ole Miss Rebels to salute pediatric patients. Their inspirational stories remind us just how truly courageous these young people are. 💕 A couple of weeks ago, Children’s of Mississippi Kid Coach was Cason Hughes of Pearl, MS. Last year, a large growth developed on Cason’s head above his left eye. During an initial visit to the ER, he was told it should go away on its own in a few days. The knot never went away, so his mother took him back to the ER at Children’s of Mississippi. This time, after a CT and MRI, doctors discovered a dangerous infection in his skull. Cason had emergency brain surgery by a pediatric neurosurgeon who removed the infected part of the bone. Thankfully, Cason fully recovered and is now doing very well. At his follow-up appointment in January, his surgeon said that he can go back to his regular activities.. His only restriction is avoiding contact sports like football. That is all very good news, because Cason is a very active 12-year-old who likes to be on the go. He is into all sports, shoes, cars, and video games. He runs cross country track, typically placing in the top 20, sometimes the top 5, out of more than 100 runners. Check out this sweet video from his mom of his experience!
