This is a tune I wrote for Slow Tiger called Wharf Street, inspired a bit by the songwriting of Elliott Smith. It’s on the new Slow Tiger album on @endectomorph, which you can find on Bandcamp, search slowtiger1 or link in bio. Hope you enjoy!

I find it increasingly rare to be in a truly collective band as I approach my middle-tiger years. I am grateful to my fellow Slow Tigers: JP, Adam, Nathan and Andrew for seeing this album through. We lived up to our name and took our time, as collectives tend to do, but we are all very excited to share this album with you today.

Spotify is evil. Listen to this anywhere else. If you want to support us, Bandcamp is the way to go.

Big thank you to Kevin Sun at @endectomorph for putting this out, to @jgoldberger for recording us, @bbdomestique for mixing, @eivindopsvik for mastering and @nomanzan_island for the album art. We love you.

on may 29, 2026, i’m releasing the first single from my upcoming self-titled album “Kevin Sun, I,” due out this fall on @endectomorph

the single is called “go in,” and it’s based on john coltrane’s “countdown” (itself based on an earlier tune called “tune up”), but with some metrical twists.

the record features myself, @maxlightmaxlight on guitar, @wawasonstin on bass, and @jondownload on drums. we recorded this new book of music in the fall of 2024 after performing it and workshopping it over the course of most of ’23 and ’24, and i think it does justice to the dynamism and mesmerizing interplay of this group of amazing musicians.

pre-save the single at the link in my bio, and stay tuned for more.

LINKS TO EMISSARY IN BIO! Available on all platforms, but adding the album on Bandcamp and getting a CD is the best way to support. This is a clip of the guitar solo on ‘Cropsey Cabin’. See full videos for this tune along with the debut single ‘Aflame Inside In Public’.

‘Emissary’ is the ambitious debut album from James Wengrow Crypsis Trio, a Brooklyn-based avant-jazz group synthesizing jazz, free improvisation, contemporary classical, and math-rock into an utterly visceral guitar trio experience. Recorded by Joseph Branciforte and mastered by Brent Lambert, the album features six original compositions forged during a tumultuous period of intercontinental displacement, alongside interpretations of John McLaughlin’s “This Is For Us To Share” and Thelonious Monk’s “Let’s Call This.”

Australian guitarist Wengrow, Danish bassist Mathias Højgaard Jensen, and New York drummer James Paul Nadien embark on impassioned journeys through rapidly shifting sonic terrains—frenetic free passages colliding with polyrhythmic grooves and math-rock precision. This is modern jazz that capitalizes on the structural ties between genres “while exploiting their differences in smart, unique ways.” (Bandcamp Daily)

“lofi at lowlands 四” is out today.

while this was initially conceived as a relatively straightforward live recording—a palette cleanser compared to the editing-heavy previous volumes—the album evolved after some discussion with my good friend jacob shulman. the album’s closer, “forest corridors iv,” is the set’s climax, splicing three different live performances with overdubs to create a feeling of vastness and blurriness—sort of an echo effect. jacob put it best when he recommended that that i “lean into the sound being very big and wide and wagnerian like a whole row of cats coming at you at once ” (phalanx).

big thanks to all who made this release possible!

@kayvon.gordon - drums
