In this new age of artificial creation, I’m often left feeling foreign within my own skin at times. It can get pretty discouraging seeing entire accounts, dedicated to pushing fake ai models and artists, gain more acknowledgement than their very real counterparts.

While I don’t consider myself some sort of insanely unique graphic designer or illustrator, I do find it frustrating to see the traditional creative process, which requires an enormous amount of passion and hours of thoughtful work, reduced to a single meaningless prompt.

And what’s more troubling is, I do start to question what’s real now and if I’m even as immune to this new ai revolution as I think I am.

Are we already in too deep? Should we accept this takeover as an inevitability? I’m not so sure.

What I do know is, I don’t want to stay complacent with my own creative skillset. I want to keep creating for myself, despite all trends pointing in the opposite direction.

This quick project, executed with short notice while visiting Manila earlier this year, was intended to be a fun shoot to reinvigorate my love for making spontaneous art by hand. I’m glad the opportunity allowed me to push my own original creativity and challenged me to explore more carefree illustrative concepts.

All of my overlayed digital and printed illustrations in this project have their own personal meaning, but I’ll leave them up to your own interpretations.

I will also post the actual shots in a separate carousel post soon.

Thank you to this amazing team for setting up this photoshoot and for helping me bring this project to life.

Oh, and the blonde look was completely Myckee’s idea which I had not ever considered! 👌🏼
