48 hours in Austin TX! Here’s just a few snaps of my action packed run to Austin to celebrate my student Heidi winning a National GOLD ADDY Award!!! We went to collect her hardware and I took her on a whirl wind tour of one of my favorite places - Austin ❤️. Many thanks to my dear friend @mike.stinson.50 for running us all over town. Lovely getting to meet your doggo @tomlewisjr - my next trip in we need to get the 66 out on the road.

Too short of a visit and every time I’m there it pulls at my heartstrings… but then I remember the months of 100+ degree days!!! Love you Austin Tx!!!!!

What a way to end the year… my student Heidi just took home a National ADDY Award. From scoring a Silver at the local level, then advanced to take a Mosaic Award for design excellence at the regional level - and now an award at NATIONAL level. Go girl. Keep your eye on this designer! Yes, I even lent her some of my western wear for a project she will present on Wednesday.

Who knew such talent could come out of a two year accelerated design program at a community college - ME, that’s who! My design program proves with hard work and dedication you can achieve your dreams!!! Don’t dream it, be it!!! 💕

We got our country on at the historic @hatchshowprint My design students got to print and see jobs in action. I have fond memories of the old Broadway location and I found myself longing for time on those presses!!! I hope to get back to more projects that tap into analog aspects of design. Thank you everyone at Hatch for igniting our creativity.

Happy Friday the 13th! Took a break from the graphic design grind to give this handsome pup a scrub. All went well until he tried to eat the parakeets. Stay safe out there all - never know what mischief a Friday the 13th may deliver.

I couldn’t be more proud of my graphic design students!! Last night we won (I think for the first time in NSCC history) Best of Show @aafnashville . We scooped up Gold, Silver, Judges Choice and the BEST OF SHOW.

My students put in so much effort and heart into design and it’s moments like this that helps to remind me why I’m teaching. It’s to see that transformation, the lightbulb moments and to then celebrate the victories with them!

To say teaching is challenging is an understatement but it’s these little moments of glitter and pixi dust that can keep you going!

Congratulations Mary & Heidi you deserve this and so much more!!! To all my students, I might push you to your limits but it’s because I know how talented you are and that you can achieve whatever it is you really want!

Design is everything ❤️ and everything is designed!
