Founding faculty member Sarah Elmaleh rounds out our Giving Tuesday interviews. In 2021, Sarah and JP kicked off Queer Vox with our signature intro class. She taught video game voiceover, and being an accomplished queer video game voiceover actor, director, and chair of the SAG-AFTRA Interactive Negotiating Committee, nobody could be more qualified. Her credits include Helldivers 2, Fortnite, Hi-Fi Rush, and Anthem, but she currently fills the role of commanding the ongoing video game strike to gain AI protections for voice and performance capture actors. Sarah was the first faculty member to offer her spare time to Queer Vox office hours, giving advice and coaching to our members. As our Giving Tuesday campaign concludes, we’ve shared thoughts from a smattering of Queer Vox stakeholders, all to encourage you to contribute to our important mission: training, supporting, and uplifting LGBTQIA+ voice actors and encouraging authentic and diverse casting in voiceover mediums. It’s no secret that 2024 has been a tumultuous year, and Queer Vox has seen firsthand the effects it’s had on the LGBTQIA+ community and the entertainment industry. Through it all, we’re proud to continue training and supporting queer/trans voiceover actors for little to no cost and advocating for authentic and diverse casting opportunities. Kendell Byrd is doubly accomplished as a voice actor (Genshin Impact, Spider Man 2, Atlas Fallen) and an animation writer at Netflix. For Queer Vox, she uses her industry knowledge as co-chair of our Outreach committee, overseeing our speed meetings. These casting and agent showcase opportunities are free for all involved and allow members who are ready to be heard to get heard.
