Some engineers build for functionality; some build for the moment when someone’s day gets a little easier.

Meet Kiana, a software engineer whose work spans wildfire prediction, AI design tools, and a podcast dedicated to making recruiting feel less like a mystery.

A little about Kiana:
🏓 Pickleball has her whole heart right now
☕ Iced latte is her go-to
🤖 Currently obsessed with agentic coding tools

From NASA to Gusto, she has spent her career gravitating toward problems where the right tool can turn uncertainty into clarity and reduce barriers so anyone, regardless of background or experience, can actually use what she built.

Some of the biggest lessons in tech don’t come from the classroom; they come from the people around us. ✨ Meet Humna, who believes the future of technology depends on balancing innovation with empathy.

A little about @humna_s2135:
🎨 Loves conversations where art and AI intersect
🚀 Joined RTC after meeting the team at Harvard WECode in 2023
☕ Orders an iced hazelnut latte or anything with cinnamon

Whether she’s working with NASA imagery, AWS, or mentoring students on campus, she brings the same mindset to every experience: keep learning, stay curious, and build technology responsibly.

Ever wonder what it really looks like to work in data science while pursuing your master’s degree and showing up on the world stage? Swadha Rai, our Data Scientist II and Georgia Tech grad student, gave us an unfiltered look at her week, from team collaborations here at RTC to presenting at NACE and attending the @worldbankgroup Youth Summit.

A little about Swadha:
📆 She joined the RTC community as a sophomore in college and has been working here full-time since 2024
💐 Loves spicy food, and her latest hobbies are coloring and flower-arranging
💻 Worked as a full-stack SWE before switching into data science
🏫 Did her undergrad at @uncchapelhill, and her masters is an interdisciplinary data science program at @georgiatech | @unccompsci, @datajacketsmsa, @gatechengineers, @gtcomputing, @georgiatechscheller

Get a glimpse into @swadharai’s week and see what balancing it all looks like in practice.

Opportunity shouldn’t depend on who you know; it should depend on what you’re capable of. ✨

Meet Zaynah, a technologist, researcher, and advocate who is passionate about creating pathways for others in STEM.

A little about Zaynah:
🤖 Thinks delivery robots are the cutest thing in tech right now
☕ Never a coffee chat—always a hot chocolate with whipped cream
🔗 Believes the best communities are built on sharing knowledge and opening doors for others

After seeing how easily talented students can be overlooked when access isn’t equitable, she founded APSTEM to help create the kind of opportunities she wished more people had.

50,000, that's how many women in tech now call Rewriting the Code their community. 👏💃 🎉

Some of you joined as freshmen, unsure if this industry was even for you. Some of you joined mid-PhD, looking for people who understood the path. Some of you joined fresh into your first job, looking for someone to show you the way.

Whatever brought you here, you stayed, and you brought others with you. That's how a community spanning 190 countries gets built: one woman at a time, showing up for the next. Thank you all for making this milestone possible! ♥️🧡

Some people learn to code. Southern learned to question who technology is really built for. ✨

Meet @sre.milan, an Interactive Design student using design, code, and public health to rethink how systems support people.

A little about Southern:
📚 Escapes chaotic weeks through reading
🍵 Loves a good cookie butter matcha
🎷 Dreams of a 24-hour jazz café built for focus and late-night thinking

Working in government technology and exploring public health helped her realize that accessibility, communication, and trust aren’t optional; they’re what make systems actually work.

I used to think struggling meant I wasn’t cut out for tech…

Turns out, I just didn’t have the right support.

@rewritingthecode is a free community for women in tech that gives you resources, community, and opportunities while you’re figuring things out.

This is what I wish I had earlier
