We had so much fun bringing AfroPole to @empressouroboros studios in San Francisco! The vibes were EVERYTHING and we hope you thought so too 💗 We can't wait for the next one!

AfroPole is popup across studios around the Bay Area. We create fun, welcoming, spaces for the culture to experience pole, community, and access to sexual health resources.

It’s been 5 years since @soulblendscoffee started as a coffee cart at Lake Merritt… and here we are thriving with many folks we started all this with and more 🥹✨

From community collabs, coffee & conversation series, DJ sets, book clubs, meet and greets, galleries, farmers markets, and pop-ups… to 1 year of our brick & mortar café being open; this is a milestone worth celebrating our loving community 💛 and our talented team that continue to show up as their genuine selves in everything that they do.✨🫶🏽

We did it big for the grand opening, so you already know @solidgroundsco had to run it back for a proper bday celebration. 🎉

Join us May 9 from 10–3PM at Soul Blends Coffee in West Oakland for an Arts & Wellness Market filled with good food, local vendors, giveaways, fitness activations, and good music all day. We got @theeefibonacci curating the sounds so you know the vibes will be right!

This is why I took on the role of community outreach for @touchstoneclimbing ... to continue the work of creating spaces of access for my community to practice wellness, have a good time, and try something new.

Thanks to @txnedef for bringing an amazing wellness market at @pacificpipe gym that brought out 200 beautiful melanated people to West Oakland for a day of climbing, fitness demos, music, and good vibes! Shoutout to @catfitness3 @afrofit_tribe @friendsthatlovefitness @good.forme.pilates @510society_ @bayfitco @westcoastgolfbabes @phive.55 @solidgroundsco @flywines.club for bringing the energy with different offerings of yoga, pilates, and fitness classes, non-alcoholic bubbly, juices, games & curated sounds!

We did that! 👏🏽👏🏽 Special thanks to the @pacificpipe team for helping make everything run so smoothly and to @langstynavery @thanksdeej for helping get new climbers on the wall-- including me. Can't wait to continue to support dope organizers who create spaces like these! 💗💗

Watch me work! 4 weeks of planning and production in 1 min 30 seconds

I had the opportunity to work with @bjmcbride23 @mohammad.earth @1800happybirthday & their team to design and produce the events accompanying the Oakland activations of the 1-800 Happy Birthday Project. From the opening exhibition of Happy Heavenly Birthday, Oscar Grant at @blackpantherpartymuseum to the healing village at @blackjoyparade to the Mothers' Healing & High Tea Event with @oscargrantfoundation , the @solidgroundsco team was BUSY in February. Grateful for the opportunity to walk in my purpose, to create something beautiful, & to uplift so many small local businesses throughout the process. The @1800happybirthday project allowed money & opportunities to flow to talented vendors, creatives, and community that continue to support the vision! Forever grateful for that 🙏🏽🙏🏽

There were sooooo many volunteers, makers, friends, family, artists, & community partners involved in bringing these special moments to life! Thank you thank you thank you for all of your help, partnership, creativity, & trust 💗 Until next time-- we did that!

From the moment I first attended @blackjoyparade , I knew I wanted to be part of it. I wrote it on my goals list… and here we are — our first Black Joy Parade in the books. 🖤✨
I had the honor of curating this space alongside the powerful @1800happybirthday project — creating a soft landing where joy and grief could coexist.

Inside the village:

A moment to breathe inside.

Because joy isn’t the absence of grief — it’s what we build around it.

Deep gratitude to @theelowkeyp , EP of Black Joy Parade — her trust and guidance helped me stretch my skills and think bigger about what’s possible.

Wildest part? our team pulled this off in under 3 weeks — through pivots, weather scares, and a freezing 12-hour build. This work is not for the weak… but it is for those called to purpose.

This project is one for the books. There was so much love, intention, and care that went into making the opening reception of Happy Heavenly Birthday, Oscar Grant so special and I'm honored to have been brought in to lead the event design and production. Thank you to the amazing artist @mohammad.earth , @bjmcbride23 and team who brought the 1-800 Happy Birthday Project to life. It's been a joy to work with ya'll and my creative spirit is being nourished all month with what's up ahead.

Oscar Grant could have been my brother-- this February makes 5 years since my brother Naz was taken from us too soon. Their birthdays were a month apart. Oscar would have been 40. My brother would have been turning 30. I was planning a birthday party that I knew both would be proud of...in The heart of The Black Panther Party Museum... in Oakland, CA.. on the first day of Black History Month! I got to include so many of our local Black vendors & creatives to contribute to such beautiful vibes. How monumental is that? The ancestors.. (and lots of trust from the team) were ever present in guiding this project to fruition! This exhibit is a reminder that you can still be present in the experience of joy while holding space for the heaviness of the grief we carry. As Black people, we do that through gathering in community, laughing, dancing, and celebration of life. I wanted every element of this space to give that feeling... plus a little luxury... and I'm so proud of what we created! ...and there's more to come! See you at Black Joy Parade 💗
