The off-season isn’t about doing less.

It’s about building more.

Build strength. Build power. Build resilience. Address weaknesses. Improve movement.

The work you put in now creates the foundation for everything that comes next.

Train for the athlete you want to become, not just the season you’re in.

💬 Comment “OFFSEASON” if you’re using this time to invest in your performance.

Coaching isn’t about having the perfect exercise.

It’s about solving the problem.

Every athlete brings different goals, limitations and experiences. The best coaches don’t force everyone through the same programme—they understand the outcome they’re trying to achieve and adapt the path to get there.

Don’t build a library of exercises.

Build a toolbox for solving problems.

💬 Comment “TOOLBOX” if you agree.

Returning to running isn’t about waiting for the pain to disappear.

It’s about making sure the reason the pain developed has been addressed.

Today was my first structured track session in almost a year following my Morton’s neuroma. I could have gone straight back into intervals, but that’s not how I coach—and it’s not how I’m approaching my own return.

Instead, today’s session focused on rebuilding the foundations:
👣 Foot conditioning
🚶 Resisted walking drills
🏃 Restoring efficient movement patterns

Pain is often the body’s way of highlighting that something isn’t working as well as it could. If we ignore that and simply return to normal training, we’re often setting ourselves up to repeat the same cycle.

One of the reasons I love coaching is that I’m constantly applying the same principles to myself. Every setback is an opportunity to learn, refine my process and become a better coach for the athletes I work with.

Recovery isn’t just about getting back.

It’s about coming back better.

💬 Comment “RETURN” if you’re working your way back from an injury and want to build a stronger foundation this time.

Sometimes the most important part of training isn’t lifting the weight.

It’s learning how to move.

When one part of the kinetic chain isn’t doing its job, another part often compensates. Over time, those compensations can reduce performance, increase fatigue and, in some cases, contribute to injury.

That’s why not every gym session is about adding more load.

Sometimes the goal is to restore the right movement pattern, improve coordination and help the body distribute force the way it was designed to.

Move well first. Then build strength on top of it.

That’s how you create movement that lasts.

💬 Comment “MOVE” if you’ve ever felt like your body is compensating for something.

Don’t just run. Learn how to run.

The fastest rep in this session wasn’t an accident—it was the result of a process.

Every speed session follows a purpose:

🏃 Prepare the body with the right warm-up
⚡ Develop the qualities needed through plyometrics
🎥 Analyse movement mechanics
📈 Coach the details
🚀 Re-test and measure the difference

Speed isn’t just about producing more force.
It’s about directing force more efficiently.

When athletes understand how they move, they don’t just run faster—they become more efficient, more resilient and more consistent.

Performance isn’t built by guessing.
It’s built by assessing, coaching and refining.

Stop using a rinse-and-repeat approach.

Every athlete is different — their body, their history, their goals. So why give them the same plan?

Amhra is a GB bobsleigh athlete, transitioning from sprinting, dealing with tight hips, hamstrings and lower back. What he needed wasn’t a template — it was clarity.

🔍 Movement assessment
⚙️ Train with purpose
📊 Track progress over time
🧠 Build a plan that actually fits the individual

Not just exercises — a system.
Not just treatment — a way forward.

When athletes understand what they’re doing and why, they move better, train better, and perform better.

Comment “clarity” if you want to understand what your body actually needs.

Don’t just load up and lift.

Develop movement quality first.

“Use your bum” 🍑
A simple cue that shifts the hips back, engages the glutes, and improves lumbopelvic control.

The difference?
⚙️ Better balance
⚙️ Stronger positions
⚙️ More control through the knee

If you can’t control it, you don’t own it.
And if you don’t own it, loading it will cost you later.

Earn the load.

This weekend at the HSS Shakha Khel Pratiyogita was a powerful reminder of what sport in our community looks like — speed, power, agility, teamwork and brotherhood.

Across Kho Kho, Kabaddi and Ring, athletes from all over the country came together to compete, reconnect and represent their shakhas. Friends, families and kinsmen meeting through sport, pushing each other and celebrating the spirit of competition.

For me, it was my first time competing in **Kho Kho** — and what a savage game it is. Short bursts of speed, relentless change of direction, and intense decision-making in tiny spaces. To play it well, you truly need to be an **agile anaerobic beast**.

I was humbled by the level some of the national teams play at. The speed, coordination and tactical awareness on display was incredible.

Our team gave everything. We improved with every game, bonded as a unit, and most importantly built friendships with fellow HSS members from across the country.

Moments like this remind me how powerful sport is for building community, character and pride in our shared heritage.

Until next year 🇬🇧🏃🏽‍♂️

Plyometrics aren’t just for sprinters or jumpers — they’re incredibly valuable for endurance runners too.

Running is essentially a series of small plyometric actions. Every step involves absorbing force, storing elastic energy, and releasing it again to move you forward.

When trained properly, plyometrics can help runners:

⚡ Improve running economy
⚙️ Refine biomechanics and landing control
🧠 Enhance neuromuscular efficiency
🏃 Build resilience to repeated impact

The result?
Less wasted energy with every step, better movement under fatigue, and a body that can tolerate the demands of endurance training.

Plyometrics help bridge the gap between **strength training and running performance**.

Save this post if you’re building a smarter running programme, and share it with a runner who only thinks mileage matters.

When elite athletes trust you with their return to performance, that trust matters.

Phoebe came in not just wanting to get back — but to come back stronger, faster, and more confident.

Rehab isn’t just about removing pain.
It’s about:
📊 Being objective
⚙️ Improving mechanics
🧠 Restoring confidence
🏃‍♀️ Transferring gym work onto the track

When athletes can *see* their progress, they believe in the process.

Grateful to work with competitors who demand excellence and bring it every single session.

Back to performance. The right way.

Most injuries in endurance sport aren’t sudden — they’re CHRONIC.

An ACUTE INJURY is obvious: a fall, a tear, a single moment.
A CHRONIC INJURY builds quietly over time through small compensations, repeated load, and fatigue.

Think of it like tightening a screw into a block of wood 🔩

Each run, each session, each small compensation turns the screw a little further in. You might not feel it at first — until one day it’s stuck.

The good news?
With the right rehab, you don’t rip the screw out.
You progressively untighten it — restoring movement, sharing load better, and reducing stress on the same tissues.

Most endurance injuries are reversible.
They just require patience, structure, and the right process.

Education is the first step to recovery 🧠🏃🏽‍♂️
