Tactical Obedience – Video 1

Layering stimulus, pushing proximity, exposing spatial pressure, and getting the dogs comfortable moving with officers and other K9s. No biting, no fighting, and no barking allowed!

Too often, K9s are overlooked and not called to scenes by tactical teams (warrant squads, homicide squads, jump teams, SWAT teams, etc.). The reason is simple: the dog is viewed as a liability. They bark non-stop, will bite anyone who gets too close, and the handler becomes nervous about other people approaching. This either forces the handler out from behind the stack or leaves the dog so far in the rear that it’s ineffective when actually needed.

Tactical obedience is all about achieving real control, absolute clarity, super-close proximity, 100% neutrality, and social stability. The dog bites when we say to bite — not when someone gets close, bumps into them, or has to step by.

If you don’t train it, you will never get it.

I do not advertise in any way that I can train dogs, but since having my own working breeds I noticed an intuition I had for the kind of energy in training these breeds need. More specifically the beauty of E-collar. IMO; E Collar isn’t a one size fits all, and frankly I do believe in a solid foundation of commands prior to introducing E Collar to your dog. Why do I use E Collar? Because I had a friend lose her “very well trained” GSD when she opened the front door of her home and her dog took off after a squirrel across the street — her dog never made it across the street. And she witnessed the death of her best friend within seconds. That’s how fast incidents can happen in the blink of an eye. E Collar adds significant measures to keep your dog safe, that isn’t about discipline. When used correctly E Collar becomes an added measure in the ability for your dog to respond quicker, smarter, and safer. It also allows you to be fully in tune with your dog without having to say a word. I met Sassy 3 days ago, her owner reached out to me because word on the street was that I had “well behaved German Shepherds”.. Sassy is still a pup at 2, high energy, and high drive. She explained she loved to chase the wildlife and has trouble listening when recalled and also pulling her owner on leash. After two days of foundation work with a lead, Sassy was obeying commends significantly better, and today on day 3 Sassy showed extremely strong obedience to the introduction of E Collar in just 5 minutes. I started at normal walk pace of course, but threw in a test at a trot just to see how much she took in. Her heel, pivots and jog were on point, and she understood a basic recall at very low stim (4). We have 10 more days to go, and I’m so excited for Sassy’s owners to experience a dog they can “trust” once her training is complete. One word of advice I can give for GSD/working dog owners? Train for E Collar. It’s life saving, quite literally, and adds a confidence boost to use as a dog owner in any set or setting. 💥 We have been following “E Collar Without Conflict” the book and teachings by Eric Stanbro on Amazon! @ecollartechnologies #ecollarwithoutconflict #gsd #workingdogs
