KLSCM2024. The only time I choose to run the Half Marathon distance. Did everything almost identical to last years strategy with the exception of a whole new training program. Everything went as planned as I had it played out in my head for days. From the horn at flag off right up to KM 17 I was ready to bring it home. What happened next I didn’t have a back up plan neither could I have done anything about it. Started cramping at KM18 and tht was the beginning of a very long 3 KM. I would like to thank the coaches of @projek59.00, Coach @faizmatfo n @saifulfadhly for their guidance, knowledge and patience 😂 . I may have not hit my desired time or improved my PB, but believe me I feel a lot stronger overall. Congratulations to all tht participated over the weekend esp to my projek family! Just a recap of my 2023 event entries in search of achieving my personal goal of T20 and B40 (5km 20mins, 10km 40mins). Started the year 5KM 23mins 10KM 52mins and 21km 1:55:01. It’s always been me vs me, and with consistency mixed with lazy days and minor injuries as setbacks, I’m pretty happy with my journey. The 2nd edition of LIHM23 brought to you by a “Small group with Big Hearts” that call themselves Langkawi Runners. Everything about it was reflected throughout the event and it’s one of those things you’d have to experience to appreciate. From the moment you touchdown till you take off, the vibe is just different. Hence why this comes a week later 😂. Shakeout:- Nice Scenic views, Great energy. REPC :- Great chilled atmosphere, plenty to do, well thought off bags (reuseable) for the race kits. Collection even comes with a view! Race Day :- Start and Finish in an air conditioning hall is definitely a first for me! Everything worked from prayer rooms, bag drop and flow to the start line. As usual, I entered the 10km category and something about the vibe that made it enjoyable. As competitive as everyone was, I found myself running alongside friends and shared some laughter for the first half of the race till I my knees gave way slightly after the halfway mark. After that it was a pretty lonely race for me till the end. The route was enjoyable as it was flat by nature and it went through the kampung roads which I don’t think I’d ever pay attention to if I was on a social visit. Finished the race missing out on a top ten position but still pretty happy with the outcome! In my opinion, LIHM is definitely worthy of being a permanent race in my calendar! I can only imagine that it can only get better with the years to come! Congratulations to @langkawirunners lead by @shahrizan.saad on leaving such a good impression in the minds of everyone! 📸 @fizsaid
