FOR YEARS, I HAD TO HIDE BEHIND MY PAIN OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.

I had to lie, smile, laugh, hug, coordinate, organize, and show up for family while carrying wounds no one could see. I had to shut up and sit in the corner. I sat at tables with family members and friends and was not safe to talk about my abuse cause it will make it worse. Yeah, I was in more than one mentally and physically abusive relationship, but abuse will not define me.

On July 17, I decided to break my silence and turn my pain into purpose by creating D2V Determined to Be Victorious.
Through my Domestic Violence Fashion Show, I am walking in my truth to give other women hope, strength, and a voice.
To every woman who sees herself in this picture: YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Your voice matters, and you deserve safety, love, and peace.

I AM BREAKING MY SILENCE. MY PAIN WILL NOT DEFINE ME, AND MY STORY WILL HELP SOMEONE ELSE FIND THEIR VOICE.

I bought my first house on N29st rva 18yrs and the mental and physical challenges that I faced that give me so much trauma and anxiety not trusting ppl having a house and opening my home to ppl that hurt me. So to stand in church hill street to say I'm proud of little old me.. But mostly important is I'm Humble and Extremely Blessed.. 💯🙏🏾 by @rees_d_steele_
