POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Solid Sound is a biennial music festival that takes place in between the mountains of North Adams, MA at the @massmoca.

My friends and I had the utmost delight of attending this year’s festival and finding out what made it so special for the people that continue to come back year after year. This is a recap of what we saw + experienced!!

A huge thank you to @solidsoundfest , @greenberggeo_ and @wilco for your hospitality and warm embrace! We all hear the word “community” quite a lot these days but you guys have truly created one filled with curious, art-appreciative people that were there to unplug, enjoy each other’s space and rock out to incredible music!

Video: @elcompajv, @caitslone, @refsproductions and myself

A massive thank you to my team of friends that immersed themselves in this incredible weekend with me!! Hope you enjoy our recap!!

CASA ADVOCATE ANNUAL GALA 2024

Court Appointed Special Advocates® (CASA) are community volunteers who stand up and speak out to help children who have experienced abuse and neglect. These volunteers are well-trained, appointed by judges, and supported by local CASA program staff to advocate for children in the courtroom and beyond.

An excerpt from their website on CASA volunteers:

Volunteer advocates monitor the child’s situation while they are in foster care to make sure they are safe and to make sure their psychological, physical, educational and other needs are met. Volunteers are often the only constant the child knows as they move through the labyrinth of the child welfare system. When a volunteer advocates accepts a case, they must agree to stay with it until the child has a safe, permanent home. Because volunteers carry only 1 or 2 cases at a time and are assigned to each case for its life, they typically have a depth and breadth of information that other parties may not have. Because of this extensive focus on the child, our national motto is “Change a Child’s Story.” by @refsproductions

It is with sadness we make this announcement after a hard emotional year in our team, but today we received the news that Friday’s LatinXL will be our last in our tenure at the Laugh Factory. You will still see me and the team performing at the club, just in individual capacities ❤️
I myself will not be able to be there for our curtain call (I really tried 💔) but Ruben will be sending us off one more time.
We are grateful to @laughfactorychi x @curtisshawflagg + LF team for giving us 4 years to represent those that look like us and allow us to share the stages with our friends and peers.
LatinXL was the creative baby manifested by myself and the late (it’s still wild to write that) Ken Flores. JV was the oil to that machine and made sure the world and internet saw us in photo and video around the clock. Years of laughs and stories would come from our venture. We became family. We knew carrying on the show after Hollywood called for Ken would be a tall order. Thankfully, Gabriel and Ruben came in and helped carry on the show. When Ken passed, we had to process a lot to eventually find the funny again and keep the show on track. As life hit us left and right, it has not stopped me from keeping the main goal of the show intact- to give fellow Latino performers a shot at the big stage. The same opportunity Ken and I were blessed with in our come up by OGs that came before us. As I think back on all our line ups and special guest drop ins- I’d like to say we did what we were supposed to.
While it is hard to close another chapter in my life that involved Ken, This venture is my proudest endeavor in my 10 years of comedy.
Thanks to everyone, gracias a todos…

Casa Humilde hosts Da Crew to watch the Chicago Bears play. Prior to the game they had a live band, Los De Pilsen, perform for the attendees. During half time they had comedian, Ruben Ramirez, do a quick set to keep the fun going.

Casa Humilde Cerveceria & Cocina brings a full-service brewpub experience to Forest Park. Enjoy casual dining, outdoor seating, live performances, and fresh daily meals like Taco Dinners and Tetelas De Discada. Their family-run brewery celebrates Mexican heritage with creative beers and a warm, inviting atmosphere for locals, tourists, couples, and food enthusiasts alike.
