Do you ever just look at the changing seasons and wonder what the future holds for Tanzania? I do. I’ve seen the seasons shift, the landscapes I grew up with subtly changing, and it makes my heart ache for what’s at stake.

Last week, I had the honor of attending the Local Conference of Youth Tanzania(LCOY) 2026. It was incredible to sit with other young changemakers from across the country. We spent days in intense discussions, crafting the National Youth Statement towards COP31.We poured our hearts, our experiences, and our hopes for Tanzania into that document.

Huge appreciation and gratitude to the LCOY Tanzania organizing team, @youngo.unfccc and all the partners who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to create such a powerful, well-coordinated platform for us. Bringing youth together under one roof to make our voices heard takes immense effort, and you executed it brilliantly! by @regenaction_tz

Coming out of LCOY Tanzania in Dodoma, my biggest takeaway is this: young people hold the key to solving the climate crisis. We discussed everything from bridging rural-urban climate education to using digital tools and emerging tech for flood mapping and environmental protection. We have the ideas, the tech, and the energy. So what’s the best action you can take right now? Join a local youth movement, build solutions with your skills, and make your voice heard in national policy. Do not wait for an invitation—step up and lead!

LCOY 2026 Tanzania is officially underway!

Today, Dodoma brought together 150 young people, 10 children, UN agencies, civil society organisations, partners and other key stakeholders for the opening of the Local Conference of Youth (LCOY) 2026 Tanzania.

For the next three days, 15–17 September, we’re creating space for young people to connect, exchange ideas, share experiences and shape conversations around climate action and the future we want.

Three days. One space. Many voices.
And most importantly, young people at the centre of the conversation. 🌱
